K9BuckDo souls pay a form of restitution in the hereafter?
#1
And if not, what is this verse talking about?

Proverbs 22:16
Whoever oppresses the poor to increase his own wealth or gives to the rich will only come to poverty.

1 Corinthians 3:13-15
English Standard Version
13 (A)each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed (B)by fire, and ©the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. 14 If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, (D)he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, (E)but only as through fire.

Malachi 3
English Standard Version
3 (A)“Behold, I send (B)my messenger, and ©he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord (D)whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and (E)the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. 2 But (F)who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For (G)he is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap. 3 He will sit (H)as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring (I)offerings in righteousness to the Lord.[a] 4 (J)Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the Lord as in the days of old and as in former years.

Zechariah 13:8-9
English Standard Version
8 In the whole land, declares the Lord,
two thirds shall be cut off and perish,
(A)and one third shall be left alive.
9 And (B)I will put this third into the fire,
and refine them as one refines silver,
and test them as gold is tested.
©They will call upon my name,
and (D)I will answer them.
(E)I will say, ‘They are my people’;
and they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’”

The KJV and ESV has different verbiage.

John 15:2
English Standard Version

(A)Every branch in me that does not bear fruit (B)he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, (C)that it may bear more fruit.

No. There is no scripture for “paying restitution in the hereafter”.

So no "purging" process or purgatory?  What about all of the verses I just provided?

You’ve brought up the Proverbs scripture before, it has nothing to do with that.
The verses in the OT have to do with what Christ will do once he comes. He had not come yet.
John 15 speaks of now. Not in eternity. We go thru a pruning process whatever that might be, so we bear more fruit for the kingdom. Just like you would prune a tree to get it to bloom. Hard times, persecution, whatever, if we are not producing good fruit, Christ will cut off those things from our live that keep us from producing fruit

Is that "pruning" process similar to a purging process.

Pruning would speak to discipline and training to “cut us, as the branches grafted into Christ, back” to make us healthier and more fruitful.

Purging speaks of removing from.

No longer GroupThink 'woke'.  but it was fun while it lasted.

John 15:2 KJV uses the word "purgeth" and John 15:ESV uses the word "prune".  Why do you suppose the authors of the ESV changed "purgeth" for "prune"?

It's very clear that we Christians go through a process after our deaths wherein we are changed.  What might not be clear to us is if this process takes only a moment or takes some period of time.

Most protestants apparently believe that, upon a Christian's death, they go to Heaven and the learning and growing processes are finished.  That has always seemed unlikely to me.  I believe that our "spiritual" growth continues even after we are with God.

I also believe that Jesus may save some people that were NOT faithful Christians and that they are forgiven but also tasked to serve others in order that they can learn and become, eventually, a faithful follower in the hereafter.  Take someone like Nancy Pelosi that claims to believe in Jesus but who has been filthy rich her entire life and has been a career liar, criminal, and is ultra corrupt.  I think people like her may be saved and forgiven but, because they didn't learn what they needed to learn here in life, they will work in service for others in the hereafter.  As Jesus said, the first will be last.
