I never visited the Hot Spot, any quick summary of what it was like?

I was probably the busiest poster on the hot spot board, but it was a side forum of bucknuts that was all politics. 75% was conservative and 25% was liberal and for 20 years it was a great board, however there were a few times that liberals would whine to the mods about the board because that's what libs do.

We had a lot of great posters over there, many of which you'll start seeing over here now as we've been trying to bring them over, since it has been shut down.

Bucknuts was basically my home page and over the last few years the hot spot was my primary focus.

Why it was shut down? I assume it was because the last few days of the board, guys like chillyinaz (***** liberal), esco (which is 3v if you know him) and a few conservatives were bantering back and forth fairly viciously and im sure somebody cried to a moderator and BOOM they shut it down.

It has been shut down several times over the years, only ro be reopened, however I think it is dead now, because the whiny libs just cannot shut the ***** up and now that it is owned by CBS sports instead of a locally owned guy that founded it, the mods just don't have the desire to deal with it anymore.

I did receive a nice message from Steve helwagon who reached out to me to explain the situation (albeit without much detail), so I cannot say exactly what happened, but it seemed like they just didn't want to deal with it anymore.

I too received the private message from Steve Helwagen and it was probably a somewhat standard message sent to many posters on the board. The closing was presented tactfully as a corporate decision.

RE: So what was the final straw that led to shutting down "The Hot Spot"? - Bucktastic1 - 09-26-2020

Yes, I think the message was a group email to everyone from Steve.

I replied, told him thanks, had already canceled. He replied with some stupid, well, we've been here for a while and will continue to be in the future stuff. ..yeah, yeah, but without my money.

He later messaged me again to say he hopes I come back and give it another try...I'm thinking why? Content on 11W is better, most info is tweeted almost immediately or quickly hits free websites. The "premium" only politics board and some inside Kurelic info is all I found valuable there. But hey, you can be there with all the lackey butt sniffers and enjoy your declining website.

Agree with davebucknut, whiny biotches show up every election season trying to agitate and silence the "desent" of those who think. Its freedom of speech so long as you agree with they, otherwise you are a racist, xenophobic, sexist, whatever, whatever the new dnc talking points are from the mothership. In short, paid trolls or activist ruin everything

Message board whiners just slay me.  Look, no one is forcing you to participate in a thread.  You don’t like what someone is saying?  Ignore the damn topic.  It’s like a bunch of damn little kids.

I’m still lmao at the OZone for banning politics and religion on their OT board.  That’s what an OT board is for!  What do they discuss over there, how to refurbish 8 track tapes?  I mean seriously, no politics or religion on an OFF TOPIC board???  That’s the whole point of an OT board.  People are goofy.  You got whiners?  Ban them!  Not the adults that can somehow manage to negotiate a message board without clicking on topics that pizz them off

thanks for the feedback, sounds a little like the old scout board. And yes, I all too well know about 3V. And as to the change, I've got to think that CBS did not want to be hosting a board that leaned conservative. But their loss is the Zigbee Nuthouse gain. And I'm happy to see you and others join in on the fun here!

RE: So what was the final straw that led to shutting down "The Hot Spot"? - Buckzip - 09-26-2020

We all received the message from Hellwagen.

There were a couple of good liberal posters over there but there were others that were typical modern day liberals.

I don’t understand why more don’t use the ignore button. I had 3V on ignore for 2 years.chilly on ignore for the last 6 months or so. It truly was not worth reading anything they posted.

Guys like shredder were fine. He wasn’t 100% politics and serious all the time. He could be fun.

I think the reason it got shut down was for all of the racism. And when I say racism, I mean if you stated facts, it was racist. If you didn’t like antifa and the BLM trash, you were racist. If you supported police, you were racist. Just typical liberal stuff.

RE: So what was the final straw that led to shutting down "The Hot Spot"? - Broly - 09-26-2020

The combination of 3V Soros propaganda spreading, and chilli showing up with the solo purpose of starting back in fourth arguments was too much for the MODs. I'll be canceling my bucknuts membership next week, I just wanted to stay and see the fallout.

So what was the final straw that led to shutting down "The Hot Spot"? - Gordo8471 - 09-26-2020

I can simply echo what others stated. It was unfortunate that liberal posters didnt like the fact that the board largely leaned conservative. Esco, chilly, acid, sarasota, and others openly stated they were actively trying to shut down the board because of it.

I always felt there was a double standard. I think it was k9 or someone else who actually got doxxed by a poster yet duane banned the victim for wrong think.

I also find it comical that they destroyed the "containment" board thinking people wouldnt bring up politics in the main forum. That's counter logic at it's best. Personally I think it's more to do with CBS running the show and section 230 reform coming down the line. As content creators they dont want to be held responsible for comments and simply never wanted to spend time modding the comments of the board.

I dropped off the hot spot several months ago. Discussing politics rationally was not possible there, but then it’s really not possible anywhere so it seems with TDS so rampant. Just check out the political thread on Bucknuts (free board) and read some of those comments from the left. Guys like Jag, PDHeaton, etc. are just there to stir the pot or spout irrational garbage.

One if the best final threads was a new poster saying why he was voting Biden. It essentially came down to the following....

"Granted trump accomplished x.y.z.
However America is systematically racist and granted Biden served for 40 years compared to trumps 4... I wont hold it against Biden. Trump is just a con man though I cant tell you why"

Conservative posters went over the top with facts, articles, and laws passed.

"Nah, it's how I feel. Wont click those links because fox reasons"

It was impossible.

Gordo is correct.

3V(ESCO) and Sarasota polluted that place. Total disgrace. Duane would ban 3V for a month and then boom there he is again.
