As a teenage boy, I can remember going into a Walden Book Store and Northland Mall in Columbus and stealing some peeks at the Playboy magazines, being careful not to get caught by store management, or anyone else. What we could view in a mainstream bookstore pales in comparison to what children can view on the internet. For instance, I didn't know that "golden showers" were a thing until the advent of the internet. Â
In any event, should we require people to prove their 18 to be able to view porn? I guess I would respond to such a question by asking this - is it broke? Is this really necessary? Would such a regulation actually be effective? Would we be required to create another government agency to enforce it? How many web-site owners would we have to prosecute? What would the penalties be? Is it really worth it? Â
I'm not in favor of requiring such a thing. In fact, I adamantly oppose it. How about you? Would you support such a law?
