The CIA, under Hillary's husband, interfered in the 96' Russian presidential election of behalf of Boris Yeltsin far more than Putin could have ever dreamed of. The CIA provided $$$$ and campaign managers (this was a new thing in Russia back then) for drunk Boris.

Ted Kennedy actively sought Russian assistance to defeat Reagan in 84. Â If they did assist, he should have asked for his money back.

I've heard it mentioned before, but as I skimmed a couple articles it appears to be a mixed take. Politifact says no, this site says yes.Â
The presidential hopefulâ€s secret correspondence with the Soviet spy service was first reported Feb. 2, 1992, by the London Times in an article headlined “Teddy, the KGB and the Top Secret File.â€
As this reporter wrote in 2010, the story focused on a 1983 document from the spy agency detailing Kennedyâ€s overtures to top officials in the former Soviet Union. The Massachusetts Democrat had challenged President Jimmy Carter in the 1980 Democratic primaries and was considering the possibility of running again for president.
In a letter addressed to then-Soviet General Secretary Yuri Andropov, dated May 14, 1983, KGB head Viktor Chebrikov explained that Kennedy was eager to “counter the militaristic policies†of Reagan, who defeated Carter as the Republican nominee, and to undermine his prospects for re-election in 1984.

Yeah, Teddy's appeals in 1984.....consider the Russian context then(evil empire/communism) compared to now(attempted freedom, falling back into totalitarianism).....is just horrible.

Surprised a couple of you guys didn't know that. I remember someone ranting about that when the Trump/Russia stuff nonsense started coming out, might have been Levin.

I forget things from time to time. When you get old there is only so much room in your brain for new stuff so the old is gone. I need more memory for storage in my hard drive.

No one has ever cared about election meddling either by us or against us. It is only an issue now because someone in our government in the Obama Administration thought it would be the perfect issue to bring down Trump. With the media's help they were able to convince half the country that Trump only won because Putin helped him steal the election.

People are extremely naive if they think that 2016 is the first time that Russia or some other foreign entity attempted to 'hack our election'. Â
I agree with HT, the ONLY reason this blew up to be the size it did was a coordinated political attempt to undermine an election. Â Which is far more damaging and shameful than a(n) expected foreign entity working in their own interests.
And yes, I have every expectation that the USA has acted in its own interests in any number of elections. Â That's the way geopolitics works.

That's what I don't get. If they(Russia or whom ever) disseminated information against a political contender, hopefully the voting people would be smart enough to see through that, unless of course the information was accurate!
