Can you cite a SINGLE Democrat of any influence or power who actually had the stones to say "Swallwell needs to be removed from his committee positions" at a very bare minimum?

I've just spent a few minutes looking and can't find a single one.  Assuming that's true, that means that "all" political Dem actors do tacitly approve of it.

Boy, that wasn't very hard to connect those dots at all...
So, a couple things.

I think it's a deep shame, and stain, on our country when our leaders do not call out wrongdoing.  I believe that Eric Swalwell at least, and Diane Feinstein most likely, should both be removed from committee positions.

With that said....I fully believe that they haven't been called out because....not ownership by China......but ownership by the lust for power and the inability to be servant leaders as a result.  Admission of wrongdoing/error/inappropriate behavior would damage that lust for power and they can't have that.

The problem with using hyperbole all the time, which is happening more and more, is that it loses its value.  It's the 'boy who cried wolf' enacted in real life.  Things may be(and IMO are) very bad right now, but the sky is not falling everywhere all the time.  And to read many posts, it is.  And that is a fallacy.

So for you, hyperbole is when someone says something that is likely true but your perception is so vanilla and bland that instead of accepting it as true, you have a knee jerk reaction and call it hyperbole.
no....but I've given up hope that you will attempt to understand another's point of view.

I took what you wrote at face value.  My bad.

no you didn't.  You filtered it through your mind and came up with what you wanted me to have said and responded to that.

"All Democrats are owned by China" is hyperbole.
"China killed 500,000 Americans" is hyperbole.

Hyperbole is a great way to make a point.  It is no way to frame every single discussion, and that is happening more and more on the board and in our society.  You may like that, I think it's dangerous, because it creates discussions that are full of false narratives, strawmen, and either/or scenarios that are just not necessary.  On this board it doesn't matter much because what I think doesn't impact your life or anyone else's, nor does it for anyone else's opinion.  But, in real life out there, it has devastating impacts.  It leads to widespread belief in propaganda, it leads to large scale deceit, and it leads to a de-evolution of a society.

If we presume Democrats will do nothing of consequence, does that imply Republicans would have been truly hard core about this?

It's only hyperbole if you don't accept that China has massive influence in American politics or if you don't believe China acted imprudently and wasn't either grossly negligent or completely culpable when the virus was initially discovered.

I suspect Trump would have verbally lambasted China repeatedly for 4 months, and likely would have instituted more tariffs. I'm not sure what else he would have done.

Not all of them but at least some would have demanded accountability.

I can both accept that China has acted imprudently in the largest part of the last 18 months, and blame the CCP for this behavior and not believe they had 'intent' to kill 500k Americans.

I can believe that China has way too much influence in the USA and politics in specific and not believe they 'own all democrats'.

Saying China killed 500k Americans does necessarily mean they intended to kill them.

China's influence in America seems so pervasive that it isn't really hyperbole to say they own Democrats.  Maybe hyperbole would be if you said Xi has his arm up Biden's ass like a puppet.

As is always the case with message boards, I could have misread the context of K9's thread title in conjunction with the general thrust of his other posts.

I accept your second point as merit.  My main sticking point was the 'ALL'.....but nonetheless agree with what you say here.

I had two recent run ins with Chinese folks. One on Sunday evening and one this morning. They seem to have gotten brazen in their attitudes towards white folks. They used to just have this attitude towards the 3 Asians. Chinese folks hate Japanese and Koreans. Something about 'sick man of asia' stigma.

How productive do you think it would be?  Assuming the alternative universe where Trump was still president for the last 4 months....

Very productive, because the entire world needs to shun China over this, every single nation should find new supply chains and stop doing business with them.

Maybe it wouldn't have accomplished that, but it would've put a major dent in them

I agree fully, we need to find new supply chains.  To my knowledge, from what I've heard, that is happening....

It was happening a lot when trump was in office but now that Biden is in charge tariffs are slowly being removed and things are going back to business as usual.

So sure a few American companies will do it, but most won't because cheap ***** trump's morality.
