So, I really like ice cream. For my birthday last September my wife bought me an ice cream making attachment for our Kitchen Aide mixer. Well, it was really her mixer until this point. But I have been absolutely going to town with this thing. I've probably made 30-40 half gallons of homemade ice cream in the past 9 months, maybe close to 1 per week. And if I must say, it's freaking super high quality stuff. I won't even touch store bought stuff anymore, because my *****'s way better. My last 3 versions made were heath bar crunch, Milky Way Fudge ice cream (can't believe it took me that long to get around to that one), and Kiwi ice cream, which is surprisingly good. Other flavors which have received high marks from those who've tried them:
Mint chocolate chip (many variants)
Cherry Cordial (Garcia)
Cappuccino chip
Dark chocolate fudge
Salted Caramel (possibly my favorite, even though I'm generally not a salted caramel guy)
Any other Nuthousers into making ice cream?

Any other Nuthousers into making ice cream? Yeah, love it.  My folks owned an ice cream dairy bar in New Boston, Ohio for 25 years and I worked there making ice cream and sandwiches so I have enjoyed good many. I need to buy me an ice cream maker. Butter pecan is a dandy.

Not into making it at all. Very much into eating it so if you have any leftovers I'm here. Â Had some Braum's chocolate today with a little chocolate sauce.

I can easily see the enjoyment in making ice cream. The great joy in cooking is learning new ideas, new techniques, and, of course, enjoying the fruits of your labor.
My favorite flavors are Raspberry chocolate chunk, mint chocolate, salted caramel and butter pecan.

I went through a bit of "ice cream withdrawal" as it's been 3 weeks since I made my latest batch (store bought stuff I've been eating doesn't match up). I addressed this last night. Went with my "go to" salted caramel, but jazzed it up by adding salted caramel Ghirardelli brownies into the mix. Very decadent stuff, looking forward to trying it tonight.

Let's just add some ground rules to this all important ice cream discussion. Excellent thread Beast, don't know how I missed it.
1) Vanilla Ice cream only belongs with cobblers and pies. Specifically when they are hot, it adds a cool foil to the heat.
2) Chocolate base for anything!
3) fruit does not belong in ice cream. If you were to water board me, I might confess to liking Strawberry ice cream on occasion.
4) Mint ice cream, specifically Blue Bell brand, is delicious
5) Any of the following additions to chocolate base are delicious and absolutely necessary: toffee chips, cookie dough, oreo cookie, brownie, peanuts, peanut butter.
6) if peanut butter is not IN the ice cream a spoon full of it in the bowl with the ice cream is a great way to take it.
No longer GroupThink 'woke'. but it was fun while it lasted.
