The Pope says
#46
Heâ€s a Secularist Wolf in sheepâ€s clothing. Acceptance of civil unions is acceptance of homosexual “marriage” with less of the push back.

Yep. Just because someone is made in His image doesnâ€t make them a “son of God” or Christ would not have said this to the Pharisees in John 8:44

“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”

And He wouldnâ€t have said this in Luke 8 19-21

“Then His mother and brothers came to Him, and could not approach Him because of the crowd. And it was told Him by some, who said, “Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see You.” But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.””

Jesus didn't advocate for the government to criminalize behavior and neither should the Pope or other religious leaders.

So we have some quotes from Jesus. What are some of his quotes on gayness from the bible?

Exactly.  Giving the church's blessing?  Really?  That's where we are now?  The pope may want to rethink his line of work.  Just sayin'

In his defense, he was very busy moving gay pedophiles from church to church. Maybe he wasn't thinking clearly.

Cleaning up nested quotes is a gamble, so I'll give it another shot here.

The truth can be brutal sometimes.   That said, the church's troubles started long before this guy came on board, so we can't hang it entirely around his neck.  That said, point taken.   Big Grin

shoot, this goes back to, and beyond, the Medici and Conti families in the middle ages.  The Catholic Church has had serious fundamental issues for a looooooonnnngg time.

Im a Protestant, so anything I have to say about the RCC cna be taken by the Catholics of the board with a grain of salt.

But I really struggle with the moving and hiding of Pedos in the church. Its inevitable that some priest will engage in pedo sin, but to know that and hide to to protect the reputation and money of the church. To send them to other parishes knowing what will happen and then repeating the process over and over? Not sure how a Cardinal or bishop or whomever lives with that.

Has it happened in a Protestant church? WIthout a doubt. But not on the scale and with the official blessing of the hierarchy. That is the real crime in my mind. Protestants dont revere thier pastors with the same God-like difference as Catholics do priests. They are fallible men who are doing thier best, but still men.

Id love to hear the opinions of any Catholics on the board about thier reactions and feelings about the RCCs handling of the sexual abuse scandals. Or on the Popes recent... musings and beliefs. I m an outsider and would love an insiders thoughts.

I don't care what church it is....and I KNOW it has happened in Protestant churches for a fact.....you can not cover up sin. When you cover up sin, you become an accessory to that sin and I would not want to stand before God and answer for that....

Well, I was born and raised Catholic (Baptist now) so I'm partly qualified to answer.  On that note, I remember when all this stuff began to emerge on a wide scale (become known) circa 30--40 years ago.  I just figured it was isolated stuff and the church, pun not intended, got caught with its pants down.  Yeah, whoooooops!  Years later I then remember hearing someone mention a great point.  It may have even been a comedian for all I know.  He/she said, imagine putting up a want ad in a newspaper and in the list of qualifications was listed being single and celibate.  Who do you think you're going to attract to your interviews?   If you're going to do that why don't you just advertise in Gay Ped Monthly (my words now).

I hate it when stuff like this gets said because people jump to conclusions that you're labeling all priests this way.  I'm not intentionally doing that; I'm just stating what I believe to be a fairly obvious observation

The Catholic church is a very large fish, in a very small barrel.
