$400,000 grant will fund free outdoor Wi-Fi for Louisville's Russell neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Spectrum has installed 24 Wi-Fi access points "at strategically chosen locations" throughout the Russell neighborhood. Now residents in outdoor spaces in Baxter Square Park, Beecher Terrace, and other parts of Russell will be able to connect to free Wi-Fi while outdoors.

"It'll be great, I love it, I think it's a great idea," said Dedra Gunn, who lives in Russell. "Stuff is going up [in price] and people do work... and everybody can't afford food, Wi-Fi, rent."

The Wi-Fi program is funded through a $400,000 Choice Neighborhoods Implementation grant awarded to the city through the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development. It's part of Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer's 12-year effort to boost digital inclusion, according to a news release.

Looks like the WHITE MAYOR thinks it is good idea....one of those white dems?  OR, is he a Jew?

Clearly a lack of access to the internet would put someone at a huge disadvantage.  I'm glad it was done the correct way (grant) rather than tax money.

Those people have the same access to internet as anyone else.   What is the difference?  The federal money and tax money is thrown into the same budget.  Why isn't the federal grant money used  to benefit all citizens instead of a select few?  Well we know why.

It's a "good idea" because 95% of blacks in Louisville vote Democrat and the next mayoral election is in November.

My assumption would be that they are focusing on poor areas.  Black people tend to be poor more than other groups, so....

Why is that?  By accident or chance?
So, how are they keeping whites from accessing the free Wi-Fi? Is there some sort of security feature that interrogates your Face ID and locks you out if you are white….or Asian? Or Hispanic?

No sane white person would be hanging around in that neighborhood.

Well, based on your belief in predestination, I'd say we'd both agree that it's all by chance.

Obviously you know nothing about predestination.

You realize this is likely part of the infrastructure bill….which will also issue similar access to rural Ohio……the black belt……the bayous in Louisiana…….the backwoods of Kentucky…..etc?
