Thoughts?

For some (maybe most?) majors, yes. Not STEM (as some examples).
Yeah, now that I actually watched the video, what he said was complete blasphemy. And completely correct.
I don't need to open the link to essentially agree with him. The college education system is broken, expensively broken, and has been for a long time.

You forgot the news media.
Yet we as Americans continue to feed the beast our children….
Wife and I proud Suburban Parents of a Honors Graduate from Plumbing Trade School.

Was one of only 2 who graduated with over a 90% average for all 4 years and he Won 3 awards at Graduation one each for Group and Individual Projects and one for 100% Attendance .

But even in the last few weeks at our local hangouts or even at a HS LaCrosse game talking with parents we know when we mention or are asked about what he is doing and we tell people, about the best response we get is " At least he will always have a Job" .

I'm thinking yeah your kid has $80K in debt from school, still lives at home and has a job that has a nice title but virtually it sucks and he hates it.

They think my boy is unplugging toilets all day when in reality he is in charge of a crew that Plumbs all new builds for a local very successful builder who only wants him in charge of his Condo and Housing projects. And he works 6-7am to 3-3:30 everyday no nights or weekends. Does side projects about once a month on the weekend for cash that average around $500 in his pocket.

Thing is they can't hire enough people and his company has had to cut loose a builder mainly because they didn't have the crews to supply him anymore.

He has nothing to hang his head over. Great choice for him. And you have every right to be proud, while others buy into the “debt/indoctrination” cycle

Thanks Bama appreciate that.
To find something you do that is interesting and enjoyable while being paid is exactly what people should do. College isn’t for all, but high school isn’t enough.

Congrats to your son.

I’m honestly shocked kids going to college without an idea of what they want to do. It’s a waste of money.

Agree.   I worked in vocational school 21 years and I know the opportunities and pipe fitting is great for income and security.   I think the electrical trade is also good choice along with heating and air, welding, automotive.   I tried to get my youngest son in electrical but he is hard to budge and eventually went into home inspection and is certified and has great job with company vehicle and nice benefits in Columbus.

Again, congrats to you TC for helping your son in this area and best to him moving forward in great career.
