Beto steps in it in Iowa

BTW, Beto didn't lose the nomination with these alleged gaffes; he lost it the microsecond he boarded the skateboard and rolled across the stage.  By the time he got to the other end of the stage his chances nose-dived.  I wish I could have seen one of those Frank Luntz real time polls from the instant before he boarded the skateboard, to the instant he got off of it.  His presidential hopes had to vaporize in those 3-5 seconds.   What is he trying to do, get the Bart Simpson vote?   Playing a sax on late night TV is one thing.  The skateboard?  Flat laughably embarrassing.  He done.

The far Left and their pets who vote for them in exchange for goodies are dead serious about turning the country into a socialist paradise. They are full of hatred for all who would oppose them.  They want a candidate who preaches hatred toward their opponents.  A hipster riding a skate board does not fill the bill.

Maybe he's trying to be a Bill Clinton, as you have intimated. Bill had savvy, he knew his crowd. He understood what "tricks" would work and what would collapse (unlike Hillary). Reagan had it as well.

I don't think Obama had it very much at all, but enough, and he was protected.

Trump has it perhaps more than anyone. His version is so acerbic you'd think he just blew and it he just keeps on rolling with it, one after the other. It's amazing.

Is there a Democrat running that has this ability to appear to be Cool and also "In Charge taking no guff"? Is it even possible? Bernie may be close, which is not a cheery comment.

I recall when Reagan grabbed that mike and said "I'm paying for this mike." He may have won right there. "We" want someone who will slap us around and make us like it.

That ain't Beto.

I was watching BB with a chemist friend of mine who'd come over every Monday night. The first year of that had some whoppers, and then apparently they got some money enough to hire an "adviser".

It was interesting to see how Walt indeed spiraled down into a really bad situation over time.

Trump is the epitome of a political statistical outlier.  I've never seen anything like it before.  Summing it up, he steps on a landmine and the only people that get hurt are his opponents.  I can't explain it other than people being completely fed up with the status quo.  Appears it was the perfect storm for him.

I think your explanation is spot on. I like your analogy also.

I watched Betos Iowa talk. He wants Medicare for all. He says if you have insurance through your employer you would have the option to keep it. Wanna bet? He admitted there would be some cost lol. You mean like three trillion a year? The guy is full of bs up to his eyes.

The 3 trillion figure is exaggerated because most of us already pay for it one way or the other. That has to be subtracted from the actual additional cost. I'm not sure Bernie et al. can figure that out.

I doubt it is really exaggerated at all.

Lets face it, all of these dems running are essentially offering goodies to be elected.  Free this or that.   Nothing about security.  Nothing about protecting the nation.  Nothing about illegals.  Anti Trump garbage and saying they are so egalitarian...blah, blah.

Trump maintains his base of support because he aggressively fights the media narratives and his supporters completely understand who and what the media are.  That is why his popularity did not drop to Bush type levels.
