In the 2018 midterm, 54% of all voters who cast a ballot for Democratic candidates called themselves either moderate or conservative. I think Beto and Sherrod Brown could position themselves as more moderate than many who may run. A lot of this may come down to relative positioning, as opposed to actual politics.

There are 10 announced. The key term here is "RELATIVELY" moderate.
John Delaney is RELATIVELY moderate. Tulsi Gabbard is relatively moderate. And as I said, this comes down to positioning, taking out positions that are RELATIVELY more centrist than the others.

First off, EVERYONE thinks they're a "moderate".
If the economy is humming along come November of 2020, it won't matter who the Democrats nominate. Trump will carry the swing states and that will be the end of it. Nominating a businessman such as Howard Schultz or Michael Bloomberg might be their best option.

Schultz has said he would not run as a Democrat but as an independent. If he did, the Democrats would have a very hard time winning. I think quite a few would vote for him over a Democratic Leftists or Trump.
He could get 20% of the popular vote. |
