Didn't you say the same thing about Mayfield?
No, but I did say the same thing about Johnny Football.

You misread my comment... let me clarify my words "How does a QB like this" was questioning what Charlie Casserly reported on KM. Does a QB described in Casserly's report, one that is unprepared and lazy and etc, win the Heisman, lead his team to the CFB, and put up the ridiculous numbers. Lazy, unprepared people don't succeed in life, much less as a P5 QB in a place like Oklahoma... not claiming he'll be a good or even serviceable NLF QB, but I highly doubt that report is an accurate representation of KM.

If the Cardinals are shopping Josh Rosen, Kyler Murray aced the only interview that matters. — Daniel Jeremiah (@MoveTheSticks) March 6, 2019
See a lot of news that Kyler Murray was less than impressive during interviews. I interviewed him at person at Super Bowl and he came across as unsure and unprepared. That does not mean he canâ€t play but to be QB you have to be a good communicator. Was concerned this would happen — Danny Kanell (@dannykanell) March 5, 2019
Anyone remember the kind of “stuff†that was said about each of these young men (both good and bad) before they were drafted? pic.twitter.com/U2EQdkRODx — Louis Riddick (@LRiddickESPN) March 5, 2019
For the record, you canâ€t make solid assessments on ANY player from a 15-minute sit down. You have to monitor their behavior around their teammates and coaches. You have to ask those guys about said player, too. You also talk to administrators/trainers. Get the complete picture. This Murray situation also speaks to why you need a wide range of people with diverse backgrounds and perspectives in the interview room. Whatâ€s prickly or cocky to some might be “swag†to others.. Life experience matters when it comes to impressions..— Bucky Brooks (@BuckyBrooks) March 6, 2019
Iâ€d rather take a risk on a guy who has exceptional playmaking skills and struggled a little during interview than a guy who had excuses for poor play (bad team, injuries, lots of coordinators, etc) but was a good interview — Danny Kanell (@dannykanell) March 5, 2019

There was some talk of this general ilk about Mayfield (who many compared to Manziel, though I thought Mayfield had a good shot at being an NFL QB). I gather Murray hurt his draft position, maybe, or perhaps he's being talked down by a team that wants him cheap?
Somebody else's problem.
Could it be he's a shy person? Maybe he doesn't trust people as easily as others? There could be numerous explanations for what appears as a standoffish attitude or lack of preparation or not articulate "at the board". Dude can play... he can throw. Coming out of college, he's a better QB than Lamar Jackson...

Let someone else take a midget at QB.
Rather take these gifted DL/DE in this draft

I'd always take linemen, trading down if necessary, unless I was already stacked and needed a playmaker.
A great QB without a great line isn't worth much, but a decent QB with a great line can be just fine.

Never heard a single negative word about him his entire time at OU. Nothing. Not a rumor or hint of any problem on any level. Quite the opposite. His play speaks for itself. The height thing will play out, we'll see. He can run, throw, and play ball at an elite level as he demonstrated on the field. I'll also note Riley doesn't run any dumbed down offense and his QBs are not game manager types. He heaps all the responsibility of making the offense happen on the QB's shoulders. Murray performed as you saw in that system well enough to walk out of NYC with the game's most coveted individual award.

Murray should not be #1, but he COULD turn out to be a successful pro QB. I don't have a strong feeling either way. I knew Mayfield and Trubisky would be good picks. Haskins is a sure thing. I actually do have a good feeling about Will Grier, and if I had to take a flier, it might be on him not Murray. Or the Duke QB who is also a good prospect.

If Baker Mayfield hadn't had such a meaningful impact last year being viewed as a Smaller QB for his position especially compared to the other 3 1st round QB's.
Murray would be in Spring Training with a Baseball team right now.
If he goes 1st he owes about 25% of his signing bonus to Baker.

Newton is actually a helluva of a leader and has never been accused of being lazy. Comparison fail.

He is a whiner and a showboat. He is anything but a leader.  Fail on your part.
