Dealing with this with my own mother. She was unable to care for her home as she aged and from about age 68--- on I kept telling her she should sell and move into a retirement facility. Finally, the falls and injuries etc caught up with her and at that point at age 80+ she had to do it but everyone else had to do the work of cleaning and moving her. She also went into debt buying really frivolous things instead of being frugal. Getting old means making tough decisions and I've learned lessons here. Thank God she is in a really nice facility.  Bottom line is SOME older folks who are single and without a spouse cannot live on their own.

In Westerville they are building a huge senior living area. It is right next to both the hospital and the morgue. Quite convenient.

Just need an all day buffet and a bingo hall to complete the package.

I have to tip my cap to my older siblings as my mom was dying of cancer. Mom passed when she was 71, but she passed at home thanks to my 2 older brothers and sister. Especially my oldest brother. At the time he was divorced so he could literally move in with my mom. I don't know how the dude did it. He'd work all day and then get up throughout the night to see to my mom's needs. Luckily we had a cousin nearby that would check in during the day. Near the end my sister flew in and lived there for the last month or two.Â
I think my mom saw what a long term care facility did to one of her sisters and didn't want any part of it. I'm glad she got to pass at home with her family.

The woman across the street is 83. She had a heart attack followed with a stroke. She came home to die. Her son is pacing the sidewalk like a vulcher flying over a carcass. Hospice moved into the house and drugs her so she sleeps all day. Seems people are waiting on her to not wake up.
The son is the type who will destroy everybody to advance himself. He's going to insist his sisters sell the house. Huge mistake if they do because they are state employees who don't make enough money to be on their own. Both tried and returned after a year. He is a piece of trash.

I'd be willing to bet there is a Golden Corral and a Catholic Church within close proximity.
It's a pretty posh place. I'm sure they have bingo on site, as well as a dining hall.
