Making use of your "above the law" privileges

Guy has some balls....

Ex-trooper running for mayor 3 months after mistrial in crash that killed 2 teens

Three months ago, a former Georgia State Patrol trooper was on trial after being involved in a crash that killed two teenagers.

Heâ€s now running for mayor of Buchanan.

Anthony “A.J.” Scottâ€s case ended in a mistrial in May, but the parents of Kylie Lindsey, who was 17 years old when she died in the 2015 wreck, said theyâ€re furious Scott is seeking a political position.

“AJ has no shame,” Kellie Lindsey, Kylieâ€s mother, told AJC.com. “His campaign sign says ‘Focused on our future.†What about Kylie and Isabella (Chinchilla)â€s future? Itâ€s almost as if he is taunting us.”

In September 2015, Kylie and Chinchilla, who was 16, were killed when Scott crashed into their car on Ga. 27 in Carroll County, AJC.com previously reported. Scott was driving 91 mph in a 55-mph zone moments before the crash, investigators said. He was subsequently fired by GSP.

Two other teenagers, Dillon Lewis Wall and Benjamin Alan Finken, were critically injured in the wreck, but they survived. Wall, the driver, was the only teen wearing a seat belt. Alcohol bottles were found in the teens†car, but Wall did not have alcohol in his system, according to testimony.
Judge John Simpson declared a mistrial, saying prosecutors failed to turn over all evidence in the case to the defense, including where one of the teens killed was seated before the collision. He said that violated Scottâ€s right to a fair trial.

District Attorney Herb Cranford told AJC.com he plans to retry the case.

Allen Lindsey, Kylieâ€s father, told Channel 2 on Friday he believes this political campaign is to build political clout in an effort to avoid being put on trail again. Six weeks after the deadly crash, Scott was elected to the Buchanan City Council.

what 'above the law' privileges are being displayed here?

1) He was fired
2) The prosecutors screwed up the trial against him
3) He's going to be re-tried.

Excessively speeding for no apparent reason...as cops regularly do.

Again, the system worked as designed. We have the best criminal justice system in the world.
Pitch needs to direct his anger at the DA for violating the defendant's rights, losing the case... releasing this menace to society back into society.

I suspect he will get off scott free.  Doing what he did, only getting fired from your job only to become Mayor, is "scott free" for all practical reasons.

And as always the Voters will have the last say.

And the story doesn't clarify if there was evidence the teens would or wouldn't have survived if they had their seat belts on.
Not that it lessens his actions , plus it says there was open alcohol containers in the car, but the driver wasn't drinking. Were the others .? And if so was that the reason for poor judgement regarding no Seat Belts.?

Could be a bunch of wrong by all Parties .

Tragic results.

He hasn't gotten off scot free yet and he isn't mayor. Your predictions don't make him above the law.

Reminds me of the old hag saying "I don't need a man" in the very next statement "That deadbeat is behind on his alimony payments".
The America, and the American Military, that you once knew is gone.

If the people of Buchanan are dumb enough to vote him in.......that still isn't getting off 'scott free'.

Again... if the DA cannot get the conviction, that's on the DA, not the defendant.
NOTE: not a peep from the OP how the DA violated the defendant's rights, producing the mistrial.
Great system that protected the defendant from the corrupt and immoral DA.

I must admit, I don't see why OP is in such a foul mood.
OP should be praising the system that didn't allow the DA to violate the defendant's rights.

The fact that he has no fear of speeding, like many cops do, is "above the law".

He's running unopposed for mayor, so he will win.

Since speeding is the about the most common offense there is he doesn't seem to be any more above the law than anyone else. He lost his job and was prosecuted. And his case isn't over yet. Which would be about what everyone else would face. If he wasn't a cop you'd be railing about the prosecutor trying to screw him.
He still isn't mayor.
I keep trying to explain things to someone who can't think.
