I suspect he will get off scott free. Doing what he did, only getting fired from your job only to become Mayor, is "scott free" for all practical reasons. He hasn't gotten off scot free yet and he isn't mayor. Your predictions don't make him above the law.
The fact that he has no fear of speeding, like many cops do, is "above the law".
He's running unopposed for mayor, so he will win. Since speeding is the about the most common offense there is he doesn't seem to be any more above the law than anyone else. He lost his job and was prosecuted. And his case isn't over yet. Which would be about what everyone else would face. If he wasn't a cop you'd be railing about the prosecutor trying to screw him.Â
He still isn't mayor.Â
I keep trying to explain things to someone who can't think.
The fact that he happened to get into an accident while speeding is why he is fired. I bet we have all been passed by speeding cops, with no lights on, or seen cops speeding past other cars with no lights on like this d-bag was doing. Unfortunately, it takes the death of two girls to expose his idiocy.

I had a motorcycle pass me on the 101 yesterday doing 150 at least. Not a cop. Actually I speed and see speeders daily and they're rarely cops. Do cops speed? Sure. Are they above the law? Nope, and your own link shows that as the guy is being prosecuted and was fired. Herp derp.

Yup. I took the Boxster S out last night before storing it for the winter. It was around 0230 when I saw a tractor trailer swerving in and out of the lanes. Either he had too much to drink or couldn't handle the load, so I went around him. I decided to stay at 90 on the 55 the rest of the way home. I took the chance of getting stopped and ticketed.Â
I often drive in the left lane on the NJ Turnpike. I let the NJ State troopers pass then immediately return to the left lane and increase my speed to keep the cruiser in sight. Have not been pulled over doing this.

Let's say, 10 times, Cop A sees Cop B speeding. How many times out of those 10 incidents do you think Cop A will pull Cop B over and gives him a ticket?

My son, a firefighter/EMT has received the "same privilege" and let him go with a warning.
My dad, a veteran, gets off with a warning every now and then.
I have heard at least 20 stories from people who have received warning tickets for speeding.
I've received a few in my time.
People get warning tickets for speeding all the time.

Like clockwork, you avoid questions and resort to insults. Like clockwork you ask moronic questions. Try not asking moronic questions and being incessantly obtuse and you'll get different responses. I'm not obligated to engage in idiocy by answering idiotic questions. I'll ask a question that makes sense. How is someone who was fired and is being prosecuted above the law?

I have degrees from Oklahoma and Arizona State. Zig went to OU as well but in Ohio. He's a teacher. dkeener went to med school at tOSU. I find people who are jackasses on message boards often are cagey about or won't discuss things like their careers and educations.
Above the law privileges Part II
Louisiana officer wonâ€t face charges in 94 mph fatal crash
A Louisiana police officer who crashed a speeding sports car while off duty will face no criminal charges in the death of a child.
Prosecutors cleared Christopher Manuel of negligent homicide, even though investigators say he was driving an orange Corvette at 94 mph (151 kph) before crashing into an SUV, killing a child and injuring others in 2017.
........
Police initially filed citations against occupants of the SUV, saying it was overcrowded, nobody was wearing seatbelts and the driver didnâ€t have a license. Those citations were allowed to expire. A misdemeanor speeding count against Manuel also expired without action. Moore said prosecuting Manuel for speeding would have meant forfeiting the negligent homicide charge because of double jeopardy laws at the time. However, prosecutors could have cited Manuel for speeding after dropping the more serious charge, and declined to do so.
Stephens†attorney said the least Moore's office could have done is issue a speeding ticket. He said failing to file the charge “almost†makes it appear as if Manuel is “above the law."

The DA chose not to pursue this one... I suspect the family will pursue civil litigation.

The cop wasn't even given a speeding ticket. 94 in a 55.
