Police Brutality in NYC over subway?
who on here believes cops can do no wrong?

I should have said "Make excuses for". Some on here actually believe cops risk their lives each and every day. I have a friend - he is in his 2nd year as a township cop - he says this burfle all the time. I stopped at the crosswalk to allow the kindergarten kids to walk by. Guess who was the crossing guard? Yup. I rolled down the window and told him to keep his head down or risk losing his life.

P1tch is going about it the wrong way. Not going to get one person on here to join him. He should run for local government and seek change.
DC is a symptom, not the cause. The cause is basic voter stupidity and economic ignorance.

I tend to believe that most, if not all, posters on here understand the difference between working undercover in a gang unit in LA or NYC and working in suburbia where a soccer mom driving over the speed limit is the most action one will get most days.

Right.  That's the issue.  Cops have much lower standards for beating the hell out of someone, pulling a gun on someone or killing someone, yet all the sheeple just nod in agreement as though it makes sense.   The people who work for citizens have more ability to assault, threaten and kill....because they work for the government and wear a pretty blue uniform.

It's truly baffling.
This is due to the type of work the police do.   You act like they are taking orders for a meal, or cutting someone's hair, or fixing an auto.  They are dealing with aggressive law breakers who attack and maim and kill.   Seriously, you need to wake up man.

Our rights don't change because of someone else's job.
this is a strawman argument.  Noone has argued that they do change.

They have to change.  The rules for assaulting someone, pointing a gun at someone and shooting some one are different if it's between a cop and a citizen than if it's between a citizen and citizen.

Two separate thoughts.  OUR rights, as citizens don't (or shouldn't) change, regardless of whether we're interacting with another citizen or a cop.  In reality, our right MUST change, because cops can do things to citizens that, if done by ME to another citizen in the identical situation, would result in me being arrested and imprisoned.

If I see a speeding/dangerous motorcycle driver, pull a gun on him at a stop light and claim that I thought he had a gun in his waistband, what would happen to me?  The cop that did this was suspended for 5 days.  That's it.

Motorcyclist sues King County detective who pulled gun on him at traffic stop

The lawsuit alleges the King County detective used excessive force in dealing with the motorcyclist during a traffic stop, and that the county failed to train and supervise its officers adequately. It seeks unspecified monetary damages.

A motorcyclist who had a King County Sheriffâ€s Office detective point a gun at him during a traffic stop last year has sued the officer and the county.
Alex Randall, of Shoreline, filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court this week, claiming detective Richard Roweâ€s actions lacked legal justifications. A video of the encounter taken with Randallâ€s helmet camera showed Rowe pointing a gun at Randall, cursing and threatening to “dump” him if he moved his motorcycle.

Sheriff Mitzi Johanknecht in April suspended Rowe for five days without pay, citing his “excessive use of profanity” and lack of courtesy. She didnâ€t punish Rowe for pulling his gun, saying she believed the officer when he claimed he thought Randall may have had a weapon in his waistband.

So again in this case you are mad the cop used their judgement there maybe a threat???  The officer felt the person may have had a weapon??  That was a judgement based on something.  You indicated earlier if you felt someone was threatening you have the right to defend??

I will not waste my time to watch but I will tell you when I have fond myself in a threatening situation I will get loud and I will swear.  That is me letting them know they are forcing me to make a decision they will not like if they do not stop the behavior which is causing the fight response.

I am not following?  You a cop?  Do you have the right to pull someone over???  But again you were the one who claimed if you felt threatened you can swing on someone even if they never touched you, not me

In most states, citizens are able to make citizens arrests, but that's beside the point.  Second, pulling someone over doesn't require a fun being drawn.  So if I just approached a reckless motorcycle rider, to tell him he being reckless, with my gun drawn that would be ok?

Obviously the cop felt he had a weapon.  You were the one who said if the person does something that you feel is threatening you have the right to defend.  You said that, not me.  It appears the DA or whoever believed and followed the logic as to why the officer felt he had a gun.  Good enough by  your standards right??
