Earl Campbell’s fix for the Longhorns’ offense...
#1
Earl Campbell thinks he can fix the Longhorns. Texas†first Heisman Trophy winner told me last week that he loves Sam Ehlinger, but he has a requirement for future Longhorn quarterbacks.

“Until the University of Texas realizes... and nothing against Ehlinger, you got to have a talented, black quarterback. All these schools that are winning, even in the pros, have black quarterbacks. When guys are not open, something can still happen.”

He mentioned Tua Tagovailoa, Vince Young, Jalen Hurts, Deshaun Watson and J.T. Barrett, who wanted to come to Texas. Campbell said he really admires Hurts and said they became close friends after the quarterback was a finalist for the Earl Campbell Award. They text each other often.

“He reminds me of myself. Heâ€s a calm individual. He doesnâ€t get too excited and keeps it all inside. Nick Saban did all he could to kill his motivation. Jalen is one of the most classy individuals Iâ€ve ever seen play sports. It looks like Oklahoma is going to win the Heisman a third year in a row. It looks like heâ€s not even running, like heâ€s walking.”

I don't value the Heisman like I used to, haven't and probably won't watch it again this year. That would be incredible for an Oklahoma QB to win the award 3 times in a row.

Trevor Lawrence says hello.  As for the pros?  Is he high?  Meaning of course Tom Brady, et al

I remember going to a UM/PSU game, I was about 8. Brady "scrambled" for a 1st down on a play that must have been about 3rd and 3. I turned to my Dad and said something like "wow that guy is slow". Who would have predicted back then he would have 6 SB rings?

texass will always underachieve. The liberal Austin environment promotes players becoming *****. The pansy alum base also will ensure they donâ€t have what it takes. The most underachieving CFB team rivaled only by Georgia.

Earl sounds like a racist. Imagine Archie Manning saying the same thing but about whites.

Itâ€s the implication by Campbell that slays me.  Just say mobile QB.  There have been plenty of mobile/athletic white QBs over the years.  Besides, Texas†QB is decently mobile anyway.  No he isnâ€t Mike Vick or Steve Young, but he isnâ€t a statue either.  Eric Crouch won the Heisman for Nebraska precisely because he was mobile/athletic as hell and, gasp, he is white too.

Earl, just say mobile or athletic.  Athletic white people do actually exist.  Itâ€s not as common, but come on dude.  Open your eyes.  Trevor Lawrence is a damn freak

Of course he didn't say what happened with Vince. Rolleyes

Just watching some highlights of Sparkyâ€s team.  They appear to have a very athletic/mobile QB that seems awfully pale as well.

And again, then there is his view on the pros.  Baffling.  Super mobile QBs donâ€t automatically equate to success.  I mean, this really shouldnâ€t need explained

True.    There are some black QBs in the NFL who are pretty good but the majority of good QBs are white.   College football is not the same.

Remember when Rush Limbaugh got fired by ESPN for saying this?
