That soul train video brings back great memories. And I learned a new move.

I did like watching the Soul Train girls dance. Cynthia Howard and Pat “Butterfly” Davis were my favorites. Pat Davis at the 2 minute mark of the first video btw.

I used to "dance" at clubs when I was younger.  i.e. part of the ultimate quest for ladies.  Like 3G said, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.  That said, flash forward like 25 years later and I'm at my cousin's (one of the guys I used to go to clubs with) daughter's wedding.  My cousin and his wife get up to go dance and they invite me along.  I start to stand up, and then this voice inside me says "what are you, a ####### idiot?  You'll look like a damn fool."  It was weird.  It was like this giant arm grabbed me by the shoulders and said sit your ass down.  I did.  Thank goodness.

Disclaimer:  I've danced at weddings with my wife, but that's not what I'm addressing.  I'm talking getting down like you're at some club.  Dancing is a form of exhibitionism.  i.e. it's tailor made for women.  If you're a man, do us all a favor and please SIT DOWN.  No one wants to see that.  Consider it sage advice, free of charge.   Wink

If you were 20 or older in 1978 and can't dance then don't be bragging about all the bagging you did back then, because you didn't.
When Disco and Pop hit the charts hard back then you either mustered the courage to hit the dance floor or did a lot of what we called " Chair Dancing" .
Some guys and gals used Qualudes to give them courage back then to get up and Dance. We called them Disco Biscuits .
i can't dance much now to stiff and old , but i could Cut the Rug back in the day.
