If they were men, they'd hunt with what mother nature gave them. Not much "manliness" in shooting unsuspecting animal from 50 yards.
It's like the knockout game. What should we do about fishing for food? Should we swim around trying to catch them with our hands?
What about cows? We keep them locked in a fence until the slaughter.
What about chickens?
How do we go about getting food?
Hunting for necessity is different than hunting for sport.
If you live in a remote part of the country, when you have to grow/hunt for your food, I retract my statement for you.

P!tch thinks Taco Bell is the Mexican phone company, so asking him where to get food is a waste of time. He probably thinks all food originates at the grocery store, electricity originates from the light switch, etc. I also think he's posting to start arguments. He's the 3v of this place.

It's not a remote issue. Heck, Princeton University brings hunters on campus to remove deer. Of course, the liberal types have some odd views on culling.

Your kind should have starved out of the gene pool thousands of years ago. One of my ancestors probably gave your ancestors mammoth scraps to get by on. Early form of welfare.

You understand the need for hunting. Disease, injury, orphaned and starvation kill more animals than hunters. The people in the video have no idea. Hell, in a lot of states cars kill way more deer than hunters.
Deer hunting saves many lives in Michigan. Everyone there has had an encounter with deer while driving and knows someone who has actually hit a deer. Very dangerous accidents.Â
Now I'm hungry for some back straps.

Removing unwanted animals from public areas is completely understandable. That's not what 99.999% of hunters are doing. Hunters go into the unsuspecting animals domain and shoot it from 50 yards away.

I deer hunted for years. Taught both my boys to hunt. It is a thrill when you take down a big buck. Most of the men I know hunt and I guarantee not one of them is anything close to a sissy. Pitch you should just stick with your crocheting.

(10-28-2019, 09:54 PM)TakeThePoints Wrote: Good story, and true: Protesters went to a parking area of a popular hunting spot (used mainly by a local hunting club) opening morning of deer season. They had their horns and noise makers and were not going to let anyone get near a deer. Well the members got together and had a volunteer go to the site with all his gear. He ignored all the razzing and went about his way to his remote hunting blind. He made sure to circle around, backtrack and take the long way in to the tree stand. When he arrived at the stand he climbed up into it, with the protesters laughing at him. they sure were not going to let any deer come by him.
Well, he stayed there all day and could hear the murmuring about anyone knowing how to get back to civilization. When it got almost dark a couple of them told him that "you have to go back sometime, and we'll follow you out then." When he finally climbed down he calmly told them "I don't know what you all are going to do, but I am spending the night here", as he pulled his one man tent out of his pack. He calmly started setting it up, still ignoring the pests. Panic was setting in at dark. It was getting dark, cold and they had no idea how to get back to their vehicles.
Now, being the nice guy that hunters usually are, he waited until he figured they had learned their lesson. He passed out some jerky and candy to them and led them back to the parking lot. They did not see them again for the rest of the season.Â
I might have let them sleep there. I'd hate to see what this guy would have done to them if they messed up his latrine......been hell to pay just ask your neighbors.

The fact that you and your kids do it and get a thrill out of killing animals, doesn't make it any more manly. If you want to be manly, go out there with a sharpened stick, sneak up on the deer or run it down, and then kill it. That would be impressive.
Now, is there skill involved in being able to hit a target from a distance? Yes. Bowling also requires skill.

Hunting is super easy. All you do is park the truck, grab a rifle and start shooting. Pitch is a f*cking dunce...I've been trying to tell you all since day one.
It definitely doesn't involve years of practice shooting, understanding of animal behavior, knowledge of wind and weather, miles and miles of hiking across rough terrain, spending days or weeks in remote areas, respect for nature (and animals)...and if you are lucky and skilled enough, the ability to harvest every ounce of meat the animal provides.
I could watch/listen to Cam all day long. I've been lucky enough to shoot with him a few times, he couldn't be a nicer guy. His work ethic and respect for the sport is something very few people can match.

It's 6:38am. Way too early for a straw man ....
I didn't say it was easy. I also never said there wasn't skill/practice involved.
Golf isn't easy and also requires a lot of skill/practice.
