My best solution would be for him to jump off a building. But given who the dude apparently is he'd screw that up. Jail will work. The kids will be better off.

You didn't provide a solution.   You can't because what you really want to say is to forget the debt.  Admit it.   How do you know the father is any count at all as a human being?

That's not for me to figure out and is beside the point.  The point is that it's clearly the wrong answer to take away the father of two children, and pay tens of thousands of dollars to house him in prison, over $1,900.

As long as you realize that everything we know about raising children says that you're completely wrong.

Nope. Can't come up with 2 grand in a decade with historically low unemployment means he's a loser of epic proportions. Just because a dad in the home means kids are better off generally doesn't mean that's true in every case. Who the dad is matters. Also while in jail he probably won't have any more kids during that time. Keeping his DNA out of the gene pool is another benefit of putting this fool away. He made his choices. Tell some people who care.
