Definitely improve her looks.

I'm wondering what Republican BS is in the first place.  At least traditional Republican BS.  Advocating for more freedom and personal responsibility?  Lower taxes?  Smaller/less intrusive govt?  Sound fiscal policy.  Sound positions on national defense?  Etc...   The horror.

I saw "Traditional Republican" on a milk carton.

True dat.  There's no way I could have made my post without that disclaimer included.

The "traditional" Republicans were as bad as Democrats.  They helped give us the insane civil rights laws, Great Society welfare programs, and open borders.  You saw what they did to Barry Goldwater and what they tried to do to Reagan and are now doing to Trump.  The GOP has become more conservative but it was hardly that way in the past.

Maybe the better term is "Conservative Republican" which, though flawed, were/are the best of the viable options for public office and President.

Maybe I should have used another word.  Like traditional Republican PLATFORM.

Curious as to what you consider to be the insane civil rights laws.  The GOP looks/looked out for the individual regardless of race, creed, etc...  They led the crusade on civil rights until that snake Johnson co-opted it for political gain.

Now the GS and open borders were no doubt a disaster.  I don't know the numbers regarding the GOP and pushing through a lot of that GS  crap.

The traditional (my definition) Republican got scared into a hole thanks to FDR.  He resurfaced when Goldwater ran, only to tuck tail and go back into his hole until Reagan, the Goldwater disciple, decided to run.  When I say "traditional," I mean more Coolidge and Reagan, NOT the Bryl Creme Brigade/RINOs.  And Trump in his actions (outside of rubber stamping obscene spending) is far more traditional GOP than punk Romney or a Kasich would ever be.

Any law, court ruling, or policy that provides special rights and privileges to certain groups such as affirmative action.

Gotcha.  I don't believe the GOP introduced that kind of stuff back in the 1950s, but I could be wrong.

Anyway, they sure didn't do much to fight that stuff as time went by.  That is definitely true

I watched an All in the family episode last week. Meathead was proposing affirmative action as a very good thing to Archie. His black colleague was offered a teaching position over him. They both knew meathead was the better qualified candidate. When meathead brought up he was getting the position because of affirmative action his black colleague said: "I know. Isn't it about time?" Meathead had a very disappointed look on his face.

That burfle was really starting to gain momentum in the 70's. I saw it in the military - promotions for people who really were not supposed to be in positions. Of course, when it hits company level it can't be hidden. I knew of a couple dudes who had no business being in leadership positions. They bombed out horribly. One ended up exiting the military while the other was demoted which all but ended his career as a commander. He ended up at Division doing procurement type work. Wasted a good career in Special Ops because he insisted he was qualified. He found out quickly how unqualified he was.
