Wife wants one. I think it's a gimmick.
Thoughts?
If so, are the generic ones any better?

Try the Jetson brand, the model is called Rosie. Does a good job but a little bit contemptuous.

Gimmick. Save the money and buy a good vacuum!

The golf club that I belong to has one that they use all of the time, seems to do an OK job never asked anything about it. I think it's meant to clean surface dust and stuff and not get a real deep clean as you would from a normal vacuum.

Daughter has one and it seems to get stuck a lot.
Seems like it's lost half the time.

My response was purely tongue in cheek.
Those dishes arenâ€t going to do themselves
Just spend the money on your wife and let her know she'll have to continue using the traditional vacuum.

I have one I run about every other day. 3 dogs and a cat, it picks up most of the stuff and like the fact it runs underneath stuff like the sofa. I use a regular, more powerful vac maybe every 10 days or so to pull the deeper dirt out of yhe throw rugs and carpet in the bedroom.
Also like that the robot runs UNDER the beds.

Does OK with the light stuff, but as Longtoothbuck said, the real value is that it can get under the beds, and couch. Dog was amused the first few times, but now does not pay any attention to the thing buzzing along.
