Trends in CO2 Production - Estimates
#25
I was asked if I believe in CC and said: "Yes. The climate changes constantly. Please tell me when CC started" I never get an answer. How difficult is it to tell me when CC started? Was it 1600? 1700? 1800? 10,000 B.C.E.? 1970? When Maurice Strong started riding a bicycle? When? I especially like asking younger folks this question. They seem to STHU.
DC is a symptom, not the cause. The cause is basic voter stupidity and economic ignorance.

I wonder if plant life is one of the difficult to control variables when modeling for warming due to CO2 levels? It seems to me impossible to control fully for the Earths ability to buffer CO2 increases. Solar cycles are another variable I think would be difficult to predict.

I think one MAJOR problem with any climate model is that you have only past data (presuming those data are accurate). You can only fit your model to the past and then dot dot dot.

I'm sure I could fit any number of equations that closely paralleled past data. Most would be entirely nonsensical of course, like whether the AFL won the Superbowl etc.

Then there is the clear problem of what we simply cannot know, like the impact of permafrost melting. We can sort of calculate how bad that could be, but it COULD be far worse. Other factors are changes in ocean currents, the jet stream, changes in ocean plankta growth rates, it goes on for miles.

Is Malinkovitch one of those pricks who blows through stop signs and also drives too far in the center of the road when he cycles?  I hate dickheads like that.

That is his cousin, Igor, the one I'm talking about never does that.

NG is replacing coal, and then some.

Carbon emissions from the US electricity sector increased by 1.9 percent, largely because the installation of new natural gas plants has outpaced coal retirements. Cheap natural gas has been credited with killing coal, which is a dirtier fossil fuel in terms of emissions. But natural gas is a fossil fuel, too, and burning more natural gas than is needed to simply replace coal will result in more carbon emissions.
"Natural gas-fired generation increased by 166 million kWh during the first 10 months of the year," Rhodium wrote. "Thatâ€s three times the decline in coal generation and four times the combined growth of wind and solar."
