From the article, it appears anyone can initiate the "red flag" process. This is ripe for abuse because restraining order can be sought before a gun owner has an opportunity to dispute the filing.

The lesson here is keep that info locked up... airtight.

I don't know how difficult it is to "throw a flag" on someone, but my GUESS is it won't happen that often in reality, and it probably will be used mostly to try and prevent suicides, not murders.

I'm against the concept without suitable due process, but it's also likely not "the end of the world".  Of more substance is the restrictions on getting a concealed carry license.  A person in CA can still possess firearms in their homes, but using them outside their homes is "more difficult".

This sort of thing may well be abused in some cases of course, but it's probably not going to impact the vast majority of gun owners.

  SO...in your make believe ethno states only ONE race or type of people are allowed?  Segregated makes all problems cease?  Got bad people of all colors and segregating them won't fix that.
