Internal department records are public? Because, as we know, cops break laws but it's handled "internally", not in court like it would be for the rest of us.
So you want to release selected private internal personnel records which may not even be accurate where the officer in question has no real recourse and can't even defend himself? You sure wouldn't allow that for the average citizen.
If a cop is accused of something, there is an internal investigation. If that internal investigation determines that the cop broke a law, it should absolutely be made public.
If it's serious and material it normally results in firing and charges being filed already. It's amazing how you are concerned about everyone's right to due process, except cops.
Due process? LOL.... Do you think cops would rather go to court when they break the law or violate a citizens rights, or have it handled internally? I'm guessing that 100/100 would prefer the internal option, for obvious reasons.
And, no, there are plenty of serious and material items that are handled internally. Even "non-serious" criminal behavior should be made public.
If an internal situation if brought up in court, the cop has a chance to explain, just like a citizen would.

You are letting your deep hatred for cops cloud your judgement. In fact, the posting of this thread was bad judgement because you obviously failed to do any basic research about the corrupt Bronx DA and what she is actually doing. It's a total fail.

Like I said earlier; I don't care about her. I care about the concept she's pushing. There are bad cops. There are dishonest cops. There are bad/dishonest cops who, because their records are hidden from the public, are wrongly given the benefit of the doubt in court. Their records need to be public because their records directly impact credibility in court, just like a citizen's records impacts their credibility in court.Â
I know..I know... you just can't fathom holding cops accountable and to the same standard as citizens. It's ok. Luckily there are more and more people who are coming around.

We know. It's a smear campaign to harass and intimidate the people who protect NYC.

Holding cops to the same standards as citizens is "smearing"?

That isn't what she is doing.

Second time... I don't care about her. I care about the initiative to get information about cops out to the public.
