Iâ€m assuming heâ€s referring to the 2016 season, when Clemson took us behind the woodshed

1.  OU would curb stomp Clemson, as would several other teams.  they are not that good, but unfortunately play no one.  If you are going to penalize for bad competition, you should move them out of the top 25.
2.  A 25 pt win, on the road, after giving up 14 garbage time points, is hardly sliding by.
3.
1. OSU
2. Alabama
3. Georgia
4. OU
and vice versa

Curb stomp?  Oh come on.  We've heard that crap before about Clemson around here just before a severe beat down took place.  Smile

Well its very possible they will get a shot at Clemson in the play off.  I think both Clemson and OU are good bets to make it because neither really plays any high quality teams that could knock them off.
"Severe beatdown?"  You mean in overtime?  You are destroying what little credibility you have left.
Did you even watch the Clemson game last week?  They are not that good.  Should not be in the top 4 for sure.  But with only cupcakes on their schedule they will be in.

You did not comprehend my reference old timer.  Scarlet got it right and you OU fans should not talk about cupcake schedules.   Cool

I suspect we'd all agree that a 13-0 P5 conference champion HAS to be in the playoff in all cases (short of their being 4 others the same and or 3 with ND at 12-0).

So, Clemson, however good they are, at 13-0 will be in barring something exceptional.  And if they are not THAT good, the odds are pretty solid they will lose somewhere along the way.  Virginia may be a decent team, and Wake Forest is undefeated so far.

And, if they are weak, Clemson would get knocked out in the first round (probably).

There obviously is a ton of football left to be played and we all know upsets happen each year.  We probably will not have 3 undefeated teams at the end of the day.
ND already has a loss (a creditable loss).

Alabama has yet to be tested.  LSU and Florida are about to play.  UGA still has Auburn and Florida on the road (and A&M at home).  The ACC and Pac 12 are pretty bad, the difference being the ACC has one good team.  OU and Texas are about to play, I think OU wins, too much offense.

Teams with a mobile QB who can pass are nightmares for defenses.

OU traditionally has one of the toughest non-con schedules in the country.  Who knew UCLA would drop off like it has (although they did score a million points to beat Wash. St. the next week).  The S. Dakota farce was due to someone backing out(for some reason they won't disclose who it was), and S.D. was the ONLY school in the country with an opening.  Houston was supposed to have a very good team this year.
Look it up, Kracko.

Glad you finally got out of bed, gramps.  Smile   What you say doesn't dispute my view that OU plays a weak schedule.  They still will benefit from it as other teams with real schedules beat each other.

You schedule programs, not teams, usually 5-6-7-8-9 years in advance.  You might schedule App State as a pastry and discover they have a pretty good team the year you play them (or not).  Or you schedule UCLA or Cal or Colorado and who knows in 2027 how good they might be?

UGA has Texas, Clemson, and Tech in 2029 and Texas, FSU, and Tech in 2028.  Those three might all be very good teams by ten, or not.

The LSU-UF game should tell us something Sat. night, LSU is nearly a 12 point favorite.  I'd take UF and the points but LSU to win.  Some of these spreads this year look excessive to me between top teams.

That is obvious but if turns out they are bad teams when you actually play them, you don't get credit for playing a good schedule.

Nor should you be penalized for curb stomping a power 5 opponent, who happens to be in a down cycle.
Now, purposely scheduling  the likes of Appalachia State or Northwest Arkansas Teachers College should be a definite down vote.

Hurts shows what happens when he is forced to throw the ball.  Another touchdown opportunity blown as Texas intercepts his pass in the end zone.

Georgia now trailing 17-10 to SC, a team with a losing record, at the half.  Not a good look for the Dawgs.

OU leading Texas 10-3 at the half.  Their defense is saving them so far.
