2017 was a long shot, but I remember the talking heads in ESPN land staking their entire reputation on a conference champ being a MUST in 2015.  Itâ€s how they justified ranking 2 loss Stanford ahead of us.  Flash forward 2 “longâ€Â years later and Alabama gets in without a conference crown.  And people wonder why fans of some teams come off as paranoid when it comes to the sports media—-especially ESPN
Remember in 1998 when tOSU was #1 and UCLA was #2? The first year of the BcS and it almost was broken since the Rose Bowl was not part of the BcSÂ then. When it looked like tOSU and UCLA were going to remain #1 and #2 in the polls UCLA goes from #2 to #3 after beating Stanford. The media started to insert itself into the equation to make sure the Rose Bowl was not going to determine a NC. Even if it had to split the NC between AP and BcS.
The media got its wish when UCLA decided to make up the postponed game at Miami. UCLA got beat. tOSU did its part by losing to MSU. I wanted total chaos in year one of the BcS.

Jalen Hurts will have huge stats this year better than at Bama. OU
UT LSU will be a great game. UT should be much improved.
I think Son is not going to be as good this year. They lost some Elite talent but they have been recruiting well and they have to be a favorite to win the ACC.
UGA is all mad. They have a unfinished business.
Could get some new teams in the playoffs

Didn't UT lose like 9 guys on D? They should be good, but I don't know about "much improved".

Second Wiseman checked in with this report
"Very interesting first game for Ryan Day. Its often said that teams keep things under wraps--or don't show stuff for future opponents--but under Urban Meyer more often than not this was not true. His philosophy was just to run your plays and plays your guys and let the chips fall where they may.
This weekend was different. At halftime, Mattison went to Day and told him the adjustments that he thought Kiffin would make at the half and how FAU would probably attack us in the last 30 minutes.
Day's response was to just play your base defense without making radical changes. He WANTED to see how teams would respond and attack--and more importantly he wanted to see how the PLAYERS would respond to the changes they were seeing in front of them in real time. Very interesting approach for sure.
On offense it was a little more subtle. Fields was composed and showed good knowledge of the offense. The challenge with him is he isn't an "Alpha", wasn't recruited with a lot of these kids, and doesn't feel comfortable assuming the mantle of leadership of the offense yet. So when the team let down(like the crowd) he wasn't able to fire them back up. Guys got lazy, plays got blown up and we got what we saw the last 3 quarters of the game. The coaches are clearly trying to protect him from taking too many hits--actually ran some 7 man protections(which Meyer NEVER did) and told him to hand off on the "read" looks. Day and the staff need to rip some guys this week---as that wasn't a high enough energy effort. Some long faces around the WHAC on Sunday for sure....
more to come...need to get better this week--and I expect we will--as Luke will be loading the line of scrimmage and bringing the house early and often...."

LSU this week will show where they areÂ
Joey Burrow has about 5 TD IIRC hearing on the radio

Two media darlings 'dark horses'. Urban Meyer mentioned talking to Joe Burrow. He told him it's his team now, and with LSU's defense, the only thing keeping them from the playoffs is a trip to Tuscaloosa.

LSU is not beating UGA AND Bama on the road. Yes, I consider the SEC championship a home game for UGA.
We'll get an idea what LSU is going to be like this week. UT should be a good test. Should.

A crowd in ATL would probably be 60 UGA and 35 LSU, not really a road game blend, but the place is LOUD being a dome. The UGA-Bama game was about 50-50 and either 50 could get quite loud, enough to influence the offense. I don't think they open that expensive fancy roof often at all.

Go back and listen to Day's presser today. He speaks to the OL all grading well.
