Expect the push for Bernie Care to get louder and louder, often times with these companies blaring the trumpet.  Everyone is seemingly a short term gain thinker these days...

What can the government do to hold down or try and help bring down the costs?

Considering Medicaid people who don't work get very similar coverage now to people who pay large premiums for employer sponsored plans, a lot of people wonder why they work?

Price controls.  Eliminate profit for insurance companies.  Limiting and delaying expensive care options.  Generate a bloated bureaucracy to oversee all this.

Um, that last point might not be on point.

Consumerism: Get employers out of healthcare. Youâ€ll never see costs decrease when the consumer doesnâ€t care or know the price/cost of services.

Yep.  Once someone else started paying it became an entitlement in many Americans' minds.  The concern over cost has evaporated.  I think the best comparison to make is the one involving Lasik surgery.  The consumer pays for it out of pocket and it's relatively cheap.  Way cheaper than if the govt or an insurance company was involved.  At least that's what I've heard on it over the years.

If you think people in employer plans don't care about costs (which isn't 100% true by the way), imagine what it will be like when we go to full blown single payer (100% government).  As Reagan said, if you think healthcare is expensive now, just wait until it's free.

The folks who have no idea what Reagan was talking about are in for a very expensive lesson.

Another lesson that Reagan gave us that I thought was hokey as hell at the time was his warning on how freedom is not in our blood stream.  How losing it could happen in only a generation or two.  I can tell you this:  I'm not rolling my eyes anymore in regards to that line.  [Image: emoji51.png]

People have no idea how close this country is to becoming a 3rd world sh!thole. The inner cities are already there but when Seattle, SF, Portland start looking bad it's only a matter of time.

I used to think the country could be saved. Not anymore. I also have to ask is the country worth saving? I do not think so.

The country, as in the principles and ideals we were founded upon, is.  Now a lot of the people?  That's another topic.

Th deficit and the debt are not solvable issues, as I keep noting.  Neither side does anything about them but complain when out of power.

I don't know how long this can last, a while I think because the country is huge, but if interest rates rise significantly, the debt service gets huge and then what?

People are spoiled in America with the wealth our system from the past created and they actually believe that type of collapse can't happen here.  It can and will happen and as you said, there is zero chance of turning it around.  The same people scoff at those of us who say our death will be due to race/ethnic demographics but our demographics have changed drastically the last 30 years and it's not going to get any better and instead will get much worse.  We already see how it has affected the political landscape with more and more states moving into the Democrat camp permanently.  Once Texas, Florida and Georgia go, which isn't that far away, the ship will start sinking fast.  I don't blame anyone for looking for another place to live.  I just wish the politicians and judges who did this to us could be taken out and legally hanged.  Unfortunately most of them are already dead.

Yup. Most have never been OCONUS. If they have it's usually lily white where they go. When I drive through Trenton it's now looking like Guatemala. That place is a war zone waiting to happen. The people in Princeton talk as if they lived in Haiti, Nicaragua, Honduras, etc. I have. I know exactly what is coming. I saw it first hand.

I'm not going to be around when it happens. I prefer to enjoy what time I have left on this rock. It just isn't going to be in the US.

I'm sitting this one out.
