I see both sides of the argument but to the side who was against this, how would you control a violent 6 year old in school, who obviously has done this before. The obvious is that there is no discipline at schools, teachers are handcuffed when they want to do something so what is the solution?

teachers are handcuffed.  And the kids know it.  a friend of mine did his student teaching in the inner city.  A vast majority of this problem lies between parents who no longer parent, and authority figures in the school who are so limited in their ability to exercise the authority that they should have, that anything goes.  As I said in my very first post, there is SO MUCH wrong with this.  The grandmother making excuses......the fact that she's raising her grandchild is likely indicative of the job she did with her kids(this child's parent)......

I've mentioned many times on here my Mother taught in the ghetto. They expected my Mom to break up a fight with two black females over twice her weight (both) and they were pulling hair/weaves/shirts/bras... never get involved in that. They also wanted after a bomb threat to go and check her room and cabinets... I found this out years later, she should have told them to F off.

I have several friends who work in corrections. Their training dictates when one adult male is involved it takes 8 guards to control him and 6 when an adult female is involved. Yet, your mother was supposed to stop two females twice her size at once.

Conclusion: Yes, she should have told them the 'F' off.

Yup. That shift has reached the white community, too. Removing the father and replacing him with welfare, WIC, section 8 and medicaid has destroyed communities.

A friend asked me to accompany her when she went to interview families in Trenton. There were 4th generation welfare families. I met a 29 year old grandmother. That woman told me she had her daughter at age 13 and her daughter gave birth at age 16. It would not surprise me that she is a great-grandmother at age 45. They have absolutely no way to end the cycle.

The yards are littered with trash, empty bottles and uncut grass/weeds. The house dilapidated inside and out. It was like a storm rolled through then the folks just moved in and never fixed anything. How could they? No skills or coin. They all had multiple kids/grandkids running around unattended. It made her cry every time she left. I grew up just as poor but we never destroyed our home/yard. I don't know the solution. 

I blame the local leaders and the folks who continue to vote them in power.

I've met people in Thailand who have even less but their lives are much better.

Fathers were replaced by a government check. These women made another stupid decision thinking they do not need a man in the house. They might not, but their kids sure do.

Cincy, back to the moral standards of the day. There is nothing in the legal system that mandates a father be present. But Today's Moral Standards state that there is no need for a father. This is a change from prior generations. And, LRRP is right, it is destroying our society.

The bell curve proven.  The welfare state has of course negatively affected all races but relative intelligence determines how much.  Blacks have about an 80% out of wedlock rate that might be over 90% without abortion.  Hispanics close to 60% and whites under 30%.  Crime statistics and poverty follow the same pattern.

I know first hand the impact of not having a father around. It was immediate, too.

Luckily, the 8 years I had with him were just enough to keep me in line. There was no way my mother could have done anything once I hit 12. 

We had neighborhoods back then. If Mr.XXXX told me to go home I did not say "You're not my dad. I do not have to listen to you". I went home. I have gone back often to thank these men - who are almost gone - for being there. I was also lucky to have mentors all through my life. Last one past away in 2003. 

The common denominator is I had men in my life. Today, kids don't have men in their lives unless we count the rotating door of thugs mommy sneaks in after midnight. These dudes are not men, they are male opportunists. They are pure trash.

The decline in violent crime rates in the US may be in part due to lead reductions.  It took us way too long to remove lead, we knew it was very bad.

I never claimed there was a 1-for-1 relationship between laws and morals.  I said it was a lagging indicator of morality.  And it is.  It may be immoral for a child to be raised without a father, but it has never been illegal.  

Either way, your comment shows a correlation between the law and moral standards.

Always the white knight or straw man....hmmmmmm.  I really don't expect you to do anything to be quite honest.  It's a message board for discussion and just because you don't like my stance doesn't mean I'm this or that at all.   AND..we were not really talking about black culture which no one expects you to dress like black people, eat their foods, or support their religions, or like their music.   
The point is no race is superior to another just because of the color of their skin.  We have bad actors in all races and success as well.  And yes the % is different and I've talked about this before.

Always the white knight or straw man....hmmmmmm.  I really don't expect you to do anything to be quite honest.  It's a message board for discussion and just because you don't like my stance doesn't mean I'm this or that at all.   AND..we were not really talking about black culture which no one expects you to dress like black people, eat their foods, or support their religions, or like their music.   
The point is no race is superior to another just because of the color of their skin.  We have bad actors in all races and success as well.  And yes the % is different and I've talked about this before.

 I am betting when he thinks of black culture its regarding crime, violence, gangs, out of wedlock births, women having children with multiple men, lack of work ethic, no planning for the future, chaos, dysfunction, etc.
