Over the years I have spent a lot of time on both coasts (mostly east) for project meetings. I love steering casual conversations towards peoples thoughts on the interior and southern regions of the country. Just to see what their true thoughts are. There is often outright disdain for those of us from the middle and south. They donâ€t even hide it, but they do couch it in language to effect pseudo empathy all while emphasizing their superiority.

Pitchblack would love these people.

What led you to believe that I had any kind of negative feelings towards people from anywhere?

Confused ... 50+ pages where you bash cops OR when you tell posters to STFU OR when you discuss Christians OR... I could keep going.

Typical liberal broad brush slander of those from rural areas.

So instead of celebrating the diversity of people spread out over the Appalachian region, the author instead chooses to castigate these hardworking people as murderous thugs bent on retributive revenge.

Iâ€m quite disappointed that Pitchblack fell for such tripe.
I guess you are one of those Southerners who only kill people you know and the people you kill know why it's happening.
Yes, that describes me to a tee. And my whole family and all of the people we kill. We are taught this from birth, because our distant relatives hundreds of years ago raised sheep in the hills of Scotland and Ireland. We all accept this destiny and so do our victims.

First, is there any other way to whack people? Is there  a reason to whack someone you don't know? Kudos to you CB. Sounds like y'all have a pretty good arrangement. As long as it works for y'all... no harm, no foul.

I think we read different OPs.  That wasn't my takeawat at all. In fact, the author explained that their behavior was basically needed dor survival.

As far as the "testing" goes,  you believe it was coincidence?
OK, they tested personal space. And ooh, they discovered people from rural environments typically have a more distant spatial relationship with others than people do from urban environments. What a shock. This is typical world wide but they spun it to mean rural people in the US specifically are more distrustful of others. That my friend is fake social science.

I live in China where the typical personal space is even more compressed than anywhere in the US. Do you think that means people trust each other more? I can assure with great certainty, they donâ€t.

Open your your eyes and step away from the narrative that all of us are a monolithic group
of ill-educated, racist, and now deliberately murderous, buffoons. You might actually learn something different and interesting about Appalachians and their culture than the stories you have been fed by the media. There are wonderful people throughout the Appalachian regions doing wonderful things.

Sounds to me like you got about a fifth of the way through the OP, realized that it was potentially talking badly about a group of people that you relate to, and made a snap judgment.

I laughed. Seems you are the one making the snap judgment.

Itâ€s easy to throw crap out there. Why donâ€t you tell us how you feel about Appalachian people? Tell us the context in which you formed you opinions? Or is this article instead a proxy for your real opinion?

Iâ€m going to bed now, I have to get up early to go to work tomorrow. So I will take a look at the comments later. But that will be after I finish my plan on taking out the Smithberger family. Those *****. But they know itâ€s coming and accept it.

True, but you're the only one trying to deny and misrepresent what you have written.

I don't.  I don't dislike any specific race, nationality, segment of the country solely because of their race, nationality, where they live, etc.
