Correction.  As pointed out to me, this judge overturned the lenient sentence and ordered a resentencing.  Apologies to all Obama fans.

In making her ruling, Stranch cited other 30-day prison sentences for those found guilty of assaulting members of Congress, including two defendants in 1981 who threw eggs at a congressman. They missed.

Wow.  You are right.  I misread this and am totally amazed and Obama appointee would have the sense to do this.  I can't seem to find out who the judge was that gave the original sentence.
I would still bet it was a lefty judge.

You are correct.  It was a Bill Clinton judge from Michigan, Marianne Battani, who was assigned the case after the federal judges in Kentucky recused themselves.
