We had a couple near us who were nasty people always complaining, but we managed to ignore them for the most part. The lady would come by my house asking me about some water problem with drainage from the house up the hill from me. I'd look puzzled and say I didn't know anything about it. She'd then launch into some long explanation and I look at her quizzically and say I didn't know anything about it. She'd say 'You're no help." and stalk off, only to return in a month or so.
She and her husband started coming to some of my wine classes. I'd go over some point and then one of them would ask a question I had JUST explained, then they would get in a nasty argument with each other in front of 12-15 of us. I dropped them from my email list, but someone else kept forwarding it.
Then she got on the HOA board, not that they had any real power about anything, but it made her feel important. Our other neighbors ranged from quiet ro great folks.
I would not like having neighbors really angry with me. Stuff can happen you can't really explain. They can go out of their way to try and hurt you somehow.
I might consider installing video cameras around the house.

Going from memory, my hunch is that the wife just went into fall back mode. i.e. she likely had NO CLUE on what the hell Points was talking about and just figured he was trying to get one in over them. So she vetoed. The husband should have stepped up here, but he let it ride and now look at 'em. Dumb azzez.

Well, i dutifully went back, obtained the detailed explanation from the co. engineer and dropped it off for them to sign. 2 days later good old "Steve" answered the door. I asked if they had had a chance to read the letter. He advised me "We're not going to do that." I couldn't believe it, and asked nicely what possible reason they would have to say no. He just repeated "We're not going to go that route. You have other options." I said yeah, and all of them would cost me thousands of dollars. He could care less. I was so pissed off I couldn't see straight, but merely told him what a great neighbor he was (with a tinge of sarcasm in my voice)
Now for the payback. I called my realtor and to investigate my property boundaries(as I believe his sewer line actually is buried withia my property) I realize he probably has presumptive use by now, but want to make sure. What I did find out is that there is a rather large 75 foot by 60 foot rectangular section of his property that extends into what looks like should be MY property. He has a nice metal structure there with his huge boat stored in it. It seems that this is where their septic tank was located, and the prior owners had granted them the property for that purpose. HOWEVER, the agreement clearly states that when and if the septic tank is no longer in use((and it is not in use, as he has been on sewer for years) the property goes back to the original owner (which, of course, is now little ol' me.)
My attorney will be reviewing this next week, and unless I am missing something these ***** are going to regret being such pricks.  Â
As a P.S. This is a "younger" couple in their 40's. We've had no problems in the past. I took my pups over a few times when I saw them with their dogs to have a conversation. They never really reciprocated, so it was just a wave hello type of relationship. They certainly had no reason to be miffed at wife and I, so I can't for the life of me figure out why they would give me a problem with the tap.

Also, there are NO public records of a right of way crossing my land for their sewer line. I am having a plumber scope the line to make sure it travels in the direction we are 99.9% sure it does. Attorney advised to give them the option of paying for my added expenses, plus attorney fees unless they want to pay to have a whole new line put in. I don't really need the money, so I might just cap it on them as a tribute to the karma gods.
Looks like a win, win for old Points and a lose, lose for the ***** neighbors.
"Dangerous when provoked", right? heh, heh
Looking back through this and connecting the earlier dots with the latest dots. THIS is outstanding. THIS is karma .Â
So just to be clear, you are giving them the option to pay the added expenses of tying your guest house into YOUR personal line (since they won't let you tie into theirs, that just happens to cross onto your property)? If they decline their line gets capped (since it crosses onto your property)? If I'm following, and I think I am, what will you do if they "suddenly" decide to let you tap into their line? Lol. This is great.
Fwiw, I have no problem with the wife asking for the initial paper work. That's reasonable. But after reviewing it and still turning you down? Â

"Dangerous when provoked." Dumb asses.  That ship sailed. Work is already done and paid for. They can cover my expenses or crap outside for a while. (actually I will give them time to contract a new sewer line, but I don't have to.)

Basically they (they = bitch wife) had their minds made up before you handed them that letter. Â She thought she could pull a power play on your azz. Â This is a friggin hoot.

You know, if Steve would have even acted a bit contrite and/or apologized, or had any even ahlf way reasonable answer as to their decision, we (they)wouldn't be going through this.
