F**k 'em. They don't act like neighbors. Why should he?

You and I don't agree on much but we do here.  However, if they show contrition I would settle for the original plan.  They really were being pricks about this situation though.  They'll probably try to fight this and screw themselves.

I know the word.  Just never saw it used (I think).

Well, you know they're going to show contrition, though it may only be for "show".  It's really just a matter of how much hassle TTP wants to create for himself to stick to his neighbor.  I'd probably setting for the original plan, depending on how the neighbor responded to the letter.

I think he did it for me.  Tongue   Not sure I've ever seen that word used in a sentence before.  Not sure I've ever seen that word, period.  I'm sure I happened across it a few times in my life, but it's just not ringing a bell for me.

I have found in life that getting even, for me, is a hollow victory and sometimes pyrrhic.

That option is already gone.  The work has been done and paid for.  They had their chance to be reasonable and neighborly.  If you would have seen his demeanor when he told me no, you might feel the same way.
I will offer them the option I mentioned, of them paying for my extra cost and attorney fees, to keep their sewer line.....but that nice piece of property is going to be mine.  It never legally belonged to them anyway.

Good for you. No reason to give anything away for free.

Did they do this work before you bought your property, or did this happen while you were there? I assume before you bought the place...

All done before I bought the place.  If they would have merely signed the damn permission, they could have kept both their sewer line and that piece of property.

So their sewer line runs through said piece of property?

Don't know.  this is a separate issue all together.  The easement on that property was for a septic.  They never had one installed.  He had no right to put up a fence.
