Scientists Debunk the Idea There Is a 'Gay Gene'
#1
A person's genes don't determine whether they'll be attracted to members of the opposite sex... say the authors of the study published in the journal Science. The study involved 477,522 participants. Researchers scanned their genomes to uncover whether there are genes associated with same-sex attraction. This approach is known as a genome-wide association study (GWAS).

The team found five loci—or the position of a gene on a chromosome—associated with same-sex attraction. The loci had small individual effects, spread across the genome, which partly overlapped in females and males, they explained. But the team said these couldn't meaningfully predict a person's sexual behavior.

"There is certainly no single genetic determinant (sometimes referred to as the "gay gene" in the media)," they wrote. "Our findings provide insights into the genetics underlying same-sex sexual behavior and underscore the complexity of sexuality." It appears that, like most behavioral traits, sexuality is influenced by a range of genetic variants which can't be picked up in the sample size, they said.

There isn't a straight gene, so we shouldn't really expect a gay one.  Clearly something determines your sexuality, in most cases, but it's not genetic.

One thing determines every single persons sexuality - choice.

I do not care what another person chooses. None of my business.
DC is a symptom, not the cause. The cause is basic voter stupidity and economic ignorance.

We've been told for decades now that there is something genetic that determines this because "Certainly noone would choose to be gay and be ostracized"....

The research would indicate like most things there is a genetic predisposition or possibility influenced by environment. No one thought that there was a gay gene per se.  But for those so ignorant again people do not choose to be gay.

The study posted wouldnâ€t contradict that at all.

Do people choose not to be gay?

Apparently we just sort of decide at some point. Some decide they like taking it in the ass Because they havenâ€t found Jesus.

I imagine some jump ship upon the realization that being gay would be a pain in the butt.
