Violent crime rates remain much lower than they were 25 years ago. The problem is mostly "localized" in certain urban areas. Folks with money don't like there, and they have influence over elections, and don't care about the poor, in the main, so they can pretend practice "social justice" over wine at parties and pretend it's all good. This stuff only gets attention if wealthier white people are impacted directly.
Racist and true. Some of the buildings around here were built 40-50 years ago when this was a sketchy area. They were built like fortresses, one entrance, no shops on the street level. That is changing now as they tear out the first two floors of these buildings and put in restaurants and shops because NOW it's safe. https://www.colonysquaremidtown.com/reimagined/ If crime returned, there would be an uproar. If it stays down south, it gets lip service. |
