Here is their website descriptions of the beers I enjoyed tonight.
SAISON/6.8% ABV - Our flagship Saison Born from a series of test batches begun in Gordon Schuckâ€s backyard. 2012 Great American Beer Festival gold medal-winning Saison. Passion fruit, tangerine, lemon verbena, ginger and black pepper. Pairs well with high-fives.
WHITE/4.8% ABV - Belgian-Style Wheat Ale with Spices. This Belgian-Style Wit is refreshing and quite witty. The opaque pale color and creamy white head results from ample amounts of wheat used in the recipe. The addition of raw oats gives a smooth mouthfeel yet finishes dry. Notes of orange zest and hints of coriander and chamomile. Pairs well with secret handshakes.

Are there any good craft breweries or beer houses near Portsmouth where you can get fresh stuff on tap?

yes, there is a microbrewery portsmouth ohio brew pubÂ
I buy lot of my beer at the Party Connection and they have Great Lakes to assorted brewers on tap.Â
Ton of restaurants with fresh on tap selections. This place has big selection... patties and Pints in portsmouth ohio
There are 80,000 people living in this area so you'll have restaurants and bars and so forth. I'm just tired of the other issues we have and there really isn't a lot to do around here. I think Portsmouth is a lot like other river towns where industry is gone and if the local government doesn't run the cities right like Huntington WVa or Ashland Ky or Marietta Ohio or Gallipolis ohio then it just goes to hell. Our local government is a joke. Corruption and so forth.  I've got some friends on our site who can provide more information who also live around this area. The multi country area and N. Kentucky adds up to almost 200,000 people who buy and spend locally in So Ohio.

That pattiesandpints with $5 Imperial pints is a pretty good deal. That is where I'd be.

I go in there on occasion, but honestly we just don't go out whole lot. I only drink couple of beers and that is about it. We have bar fridge and accomodations at our home and it's just cheaper to buy and bring home.
The Second St area in town is going through a renaissance of sorts with new loft apts and restaurants and bars. It's the locals who are doing this not the city government I can tell you that. I've got about 3 1/2 weeks to get my stuff out of my house for the new owner and I'm done paying them income tax, property tax, sewage and trash and water fees and so forth. I live on a great street and near the So Ohio Med Center campus on hill top but I'm done with the city government here. I think they've hurt the local college of Shawnee State university, homeowners, the local HS as well.

Tonight, I picked up a few different cans of imperial IPAs.
Just trying one of them now - Flying Monkeys (Ontario, Canada) Sparklepuff...
It's pretty light in color for the style. Smells good too. Has a distinct citrus and stonefruit flavors with a fairly dry finish for such a big beer.
Just noticed that it's pretty cloudy with a lot of sediment, but that doesn't bother me.
I like it. I'd get it again for sure. Also, the 16oz can is a nice touch!

Got a 4-pack of Platform "Just the Dopest" Double IPA. It's got some tropical notes to it and the hops have some real bite. $14.99/4-pack.

I found Kirkland brand Napa cab in a box at Costco, 4 bottles (3 L) for $14, bought two, it is amazingly good at the price IMHO.
Kirkland is floating my boat on wine 80% of the time. I find their chard to be just "OK", but chard and pinot lend to having a steep value curve IMHO. Cab and merlot etc. are more tolerable at the low price point I think.
I can recall a period where I was a big zin drinker, have not had zin in a long time, should probably try one again. The Old Ghost was my favorite, but is not cheap.

I shared a bottle of 2015 Carlisle Montafi Ranch Zinfandel earlier this week. It was quite a treat!

https://newrealmbrewing.com/beer/
This place is walking distance and we dined there for lunch once. (There are two other pretty decent restaurants at the same location, one pretending to be a French bistro.) This place also has their beer in groceries. When craft beers was a new thing, it was really cool I thought, I discovered them in Seattle many moons ago. Today, I'm more interested in the food, and I think most tend to skimp/overcharge in that category.
And I tend to find many of their beers "over the top", trying to make a statement, rather than just being a plain very good beer (to me). But these places are very popular in general, we have a lot of younger folks in this general area. I guess over paying for OK food and some unique beer is their thing.
This place does have a nice patio overlooking the Beltline, so that's a plus, I prefer dining outside when weather permits. That is a lot more prevalent around here than in Cincy for obvious reasons.
