Years ago my nephew married a black woman.  They've been married for 18 years.  He's told me stories of guys cracking black jokes in his presence and him informing them that his wife is black and that his kids are bi-racial.  One time he was at a tire store and the clerk made a joke about black people and my nephew put him in his place and he thought that was the end of it.  Apparently, a co-worker reported the clerk because the next day he received a call from the corporate headquarters who were effusive with apologies.  Needless to say, the clerk was canned.

In the old days this would have ended with your nephew punking the clerk.  Now these corporations are so scared of their own damn shadows they have to throw some dumb ass clerk under the bus for making stupid remarks.  My guess is your nephew likely never planned to take it any further.   

My take -- the clerk was a moron for making those comments.  The other employee was a beyotch azz snitch.  And the company is terrified of a visit from some SJW group. 

The only person that sounded like he handled this properly was your nephew.

My nephew is very low-key and easy going.  He also served in the Air Force and trained (he's retired now) a LOT of young men.  He's a great guy.  No, he doesn't have a vindictive bone in his body.
