Those people eat snails and frogs.
I havenâ€t seen those, yet. Had mussels, Arctic char, wines, etc. and
theres a place here called lâ€affaire est ketchup thatâ€s prolly up your alley. But theyâ€re your people, you huegenot son of a French person.

I would opine on balance it was not a good decision, but I make poor decisions in life.  However, the wife really likes that we have it so there is that.  We try to get something where as many of the kids as possible can aggregate around Christmas.  And of course their favorite is Hawaii, but now two of our kids live in France.  It's not so easy to get to Hawaii.

It has enabled travel to some interesting locations.  We're headed to Tuscany next May for a one week stay in a condo using the time share.  There is also one in Portugal that looks awesome but it books up quickly.  We use the one in Hilton Head the most for obvious reasons, it's right on the beach for one thing and a 3.5 hour drive.
The Key to Timeshares back about 20 years ago was to get one in Hawaii because they were the most desirable and are easily traded for Timeshares all over the World.
My buddy had one and was besieged with offers from about anywhere you could think of for trades.
Health issues ( Parkinson's ) forced him to sell it recently .

The French eat ketchup? Perhaps I should rethink my disdain. It's one of the four essential food groups. The others being beef, beer, and chocolate.

The French invented ketchup, but not the tomato based kind we use. It was sort of boil fish heads, kind of.

I have not had any luck with beef in France. There is some good beer in Alsace, which is French at the moment. Chocolate? Yup.

The surprising thing to me was French mustard. It's an art there, especially by Miele.

I had lamb belly that was prepared with a barbecue, of sorts, sauce that had whole mustard seeds throughout. It didnâ€t suck. The mustard seeds mostly added texture as they were devoid of flavor. I donâ€t know how the chef accomplished that.

I think Barcelona would be my favorite European city that I've visited. I like Lyon also.

We did a lot of walking in Barcelona.

Never been to Spain.
Iâ€ve been to Oklahoma, they tell me I was born there.

But you really donâ€t remember? And now youâ€re in Arizona, what does it matter.

The food choices in other countries tend to diminish my desire to travel to them.....lamb belly? seriously? who eats that?

Speaking of Arizona, we took a great side trip out of Winslow, down 87 thru the Tonto Mountains(Louis L'Amour wrote about this area) to Tonto natural bridge State Park. Beautiful area and vast changes in temp and surroundings. back up to Camp Verde, over to 89A and up another fantastic drive(2 lane) with beautiful terrain.

mmmmmmmm....lamb belly....mmmmmmm

Bacon is pork belly.  I'd eat it mmmmmmm

I've been to 3 countries in Europe for 2 weeks so I can't say I've stayed there long enough to really experience great food.   What we had was ok.  I had fish and chips in London and it was really good.   Had some of those tiny chickens and potatoes in Paris.   Pretty good with couple of other meals.  Rome I had some of their pizza.   VERY thin and with an egg in the center.  Had some gelato in rome and it's good.  Pasta was good.   Can't really say anything beats what my lovely wife cooks or the beer I buy here.

Iâ€d never had lamb belly but I thought Iâ€d try. Given that this restaurantâ€smenu had three appetizers, five entrees and three desserts only, what was I going to do? I still prefer pork belly.
