The black dude who some claim was the first slave holder in the US really had indentured servants, which was common at the time, some indentured for life, which is effective slavery.
A person who works in a deep coal mine because he has no other options to survive could be seen as a kind of slave.

Is the slavery that Paul sent Onesimus back to in the book of Philemon in the New Testament, the same slavery that Harriett Tubman worked diligently to remove people from?

I watched Gone with the Wind on the plane. I thought it interesting how the house slaves thought themselves superior to the field slaves. That movie and book are very very non-PC today.
