I think a LOT of people are enslaved in this way. For whatever reason, they picked D or R as "their team" and the other side is "bad/evil/worse" and that's just the way it is. It's easier than thinking about anything.
Confirmation bias sets in and they are fixated in their ways.

Considering the policies that Democrats now openly advocate, I'm not sure how any sane and reasonably moral person won't call them evil. Also not sure what calling a spade a spade has to do with "confirmation bias".
