Before Brett Kavanaugh, Nicholas Sandmann, Officer Darren Wilson or George Zimmerman, there was Richard Jewell: an innocent man whose life was nearly destroyed when the media and the FBI falsely accused him of domestic terrorism for no other reason than the fact he was a white fat southerner. https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-cli...ll-trailer
At 4:50pm, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution published a special edition. The banner headline: FBI suspects ‘hero†guard may have planted bomb.
At 4:57pm, CNN broadcast the story, holding the Journal-Constitution up to the camera.
At 5:11pm, the Associated Press released a wire story attributed to its own sources.
Shortly after, NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw said on air: “The speculation is that the FBI is close to ‘making the case†, in their language. They probably have enough to arrest him right now, probably enough to prosecute him, but you always want to have enough to convict him as well. There are still some holes in this case.â€
A second-day opinion piece in the Atlanta newspaper only doubled down on the scoop: “Like this one, he became famous in the aftermath of murder. His name was Wayne Williams,†columnist Dave Kindred wrote, referencing the serial child murderer. “This one is Richard Jewell.†â€

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/j...ard-jewell I'd like to go to that movie. I suspect many liberals will hate it....probably call him a white supremacist.

It's likely most of us believed the lies the media was pushing on us during that time.
Thank goodness for Donald Trump for showing us the media bias.

Will never forget what they did to that man, and yet they all manage to sleep just fine.  I cannot imagine the entire world being on you like that. Trump deals with it all the time, but he's the POTUS. This was just an average schmuck like the rest of us. I just can't imagine. No ability to fight back/counter. Bartman about 7 years later to a lesser degree as well.

Ya know, to this day I don't know off the top of my head if they ever figured out who planted that bomb, but I remember Jewel's name. #### the American media.

It was this dude, Eric Robert Rudolph  FBI profilers always look at wannabe cops first in situations like this. Let's face it, Paul Blartt is a lot less cool than a real life version of this dude-Rudolph lived in the woods of NC for over a year against a huge fderal manhunt.Â

I get the mindset on bombing the abortion clinic. Meaning he had a cause. What was his big cause in bombing the Olympics? Â
Mental illness likely had to be a player here.Â
Circling back to Jewell. Again, I remember his name but not the actual bomber's. Incredible.

Eric Robert Rudolph was convicted of placing the 40-pound bomb, filled with nails and screws, in Centennial Olympic Park.
July 30, 1996 -Â Quoting an unnamed source, security guard Richard Jewell is named by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as a suspect in the bombing. Jewell was first praised as a hero for discovering the backpack that held the bomb and alerting the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to it. The area was being evacuated when the bomb exploded. Jewell denies any role in the bombing and is later cleared of any wrongdoing by the FBI.
October 26, 1996 -Â It is announced by the US Justice Department that Jewell is no longer a suspect in the Olympic Park bombing.

I imagine Rudolph saw theOlympics as a big blob of peace, love, and One World Government or something like that. Dude was a right wing survivalist type who also grew weed.
