How did we get here?

Onlookers wish death on officers and shout profanities after fatal shootout on Staten Island. [O]fficers killed a career criminal, Gregory Edwards... a 39-year-old convicted felon with 16 arrests, including three for weapons possession, in a wild shootout[/url] that left a cop with a bullet in her hand. Much of the invective came from a group of 14 people restricted to the driveway while cops painstakingly processed the scene...

“Suck my d–k! Everybody behind that line can suck my d–k!”
“Get the f–k out of here!”
“All of yâ€all can die!... I hope that happens.”

“Are you surprised? Somebodyâ€s shooting at a police officer and nobody cares. Theyâ€re more concerned about the perp than the cop whoâ€s there to protect them. You call the police to do a job, a cop gets shot, but theyâ€re upset that a guy who was shooting a cop is dead.” https://nypost.com/2019/09/17/onlookers-...en-island/

Thought this was worth repeating from Why no one wants to be a cop anymore... The job asks that you carry on, never lose your cool, be unerring in your split-second judgments. Nearly every move you make will be recorded by body cam, surveillance footage, or a bystanderâ€s phone. Make a mistake, and assumptions of human fallibility accorded to other jobs will not likely be a courtesy extended to you. Each day offers another chance to lose your income, your freedom, your life with one unexpected move.

One word: Liberalism.   They are against holding anyone accountable, well, unless it's a conservative then they want to ruin them.   Oppose police, open the border, shut down ICE, all the same philosophy.

I'm not psychic, but it sounds like there are some people who harbor bad feelings for cops to the point that even good things can't be seen objectively.  I don't think it's a coincidence that this is happening at the same time cops are wearing body cams and the internet is full of videos of cops doing things that should be viewed as unacceptable.

The days of cops operating with impunity appears to be coming to an end.  It can't happen soon enough.

My guess is that body cams were the worst thing to ever happen to perps.  SJWâ€s learning about the law of unintended consequences.  For every Rodney King there are probably a thousand in the other direction

Probably more like 10 plus thousand. The people in these communities acting that way are fellow criminals. Out on bail, probation , or parole. Criminals hate cops. What we really need is more jails and longer sentences.

No. What is needed are more executions.

Body cams are the best thing to happen to cops in a great while.

Correct answer!

Just section them off into no-go zones, and let 'em kill each other down to the last man.

Then you lock the last man from each zone into a giant cell, and let them kill each other down to the last man.

Then you execute that last man.

Badda bing, badda boom. Problem solved.

You have to go completely Orwellian to look the other way and pretend this isn't a race issue but not one person mentioned it.  Obama threw it in our faces for 8 years and completely legitimized black hatred of police and you still ignore it?  Unbelievable.

Pretty sure that was a given and understood by all in this thread.

I'm sure it may have been worse in the past, but the two events that seemed to have really ramped up the anti-police sentiment in particular communities were when Obama said the cops acted stupidly for the Professor Gates situation...the other was the "hands up don't shoot" lie perpetuated by White House and media regarding Michael Brown.

Things have gone way off the rails since both of those events, and Obama giving license to his supporters to say/do whatever they want in response to police.

I'm sure Pitch will be here in no time to give a list of shootings by police, nearly all of them being justified. I don't think anyone is really trying to protect bad cops...get them out and punish appropriately when found out

I just don't know how you recruit good, decent people to become cops anymore.  Who the hell would want to subject themselves to this crap?  I know this is stuff that could never be done/fantasy world, but if I'm the chief in some of these areas I make an offer to the people, if you really want us out we will most definitely leave.  Only time we will enter is if an ambulance is called in a life or death situation and needs an escort, other than that?  HAVE THE #### AT IT!  Buh bye.
