not thrilled with this nugget:
Weakside linebacker Malik Harrison, middle linebacker Tuf Borland and strongside linebacker Pete Werner took the first-team reps at their respective positions. Dallas Gant, Baron Browning and Kâ€Vaughan Pope were the second-team linebackers during the time reporters were allowed to watch practice.
Hmmm...Wasnt Browning considered to be Our Starting Middle Linebacker...The Rivals Guys
Cant Talk him up e-nuf...
So Yep ...Bad Nugget...not Happy either

So Yep ...Bad Nugget...not Happy either Again, think I saw it in The Athletic, but Tuf was in there because of dings or something.  I don't think BB has played himself out of that starting spot.  Said that Washington was working with Tuf on being more aggressive and attacking.

Regarding the last few years, many people said the scheme was THE problem with the LB unit, not talent. Davis is finally gone...

I'd tend to agree with that. Excited for new coaching and approach.

Amen. There is no excuse for how poorly our defense played last year. It starts and ends with coaching.

Davis and Schiano were retained solely because of their friendship and loyalty to Meyer.

I've read (multiple sites) JF being named the starter has been the worst kept secret in camp... he has gotten the bulk of reps with the starters.

The 2019 hype train for Chase Young continues to roll right along.
Ohio Stateâ€s junior defensive end is expected to be one of the best players in the country in 2019 and potentially a top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft if he elects to declare a year early. This week, Young was named a unanimous preseason first-team All-American by CBS Sports.
Young came to Ohio State as a five-star prospect out of DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. He was rated the top player from his home state, the second-best strongside defensive end in the 2017 class and the country's seventh-best player.
As a freshman, Young walked into a crowded defensive line room that already featured Tyquan Lewis, Sam Hubbard Jalyn Holmes and Nick Bosa. Playing behind those other four, Young saw action in nine games in 2017, recording 18 total tackles, five tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble. This included back-to-back three-tackle, one-tackle-for-a-loss games against Rutgers and Maryland.
With Lewis, Hubbard and Holmes all gone to the NFL, Young's role had to increase heading into his sophomore year. He began the season as the third player in a three-man rotation at defensive end along with Bosa and Jonathon Cooper. Two and a half games into the season, Young's role changed when Bosa went down with a core muscle injury in the neutral site win against TCU. After considering his options, Bosa and his family elected to end his college career to recover and prepare for the NFL Draft, meaning Young became a starter and bigger focal point for Ohio State's defense.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day is yet to name a starting quarterback.
However, he said he would likely make a decision on Monday. Does that mean he will announce Justin Fields is the Buckeyes' starter?
Patrick Murphy joins Dave Biddle to discuss that, plus many other camp happenings on the Friday extravaganza.
