Any of you have solar panels on your roof?

I looked into it in Ohio, at that time the twin problems were:
1. It never paid out, and 2. I could not find a turnkey operation in the area. I would have had to buy the PV panels and then find someone to install them properly. I didn't look because it didn't pay out. I think it might in Arizona. I saw somewhere that half a percent of US homes have some kind of PV on the roof. There was a period in the 1970s when folks were putting solar water heaters on the roof, I used to see them around fairly often in Cincy, but I think they had issues with leaks and whatnot.

Yeah I live in Phoenix and it never occurred to me. They're heavily subsidized so I suppose if you do the math on that maybe they're worthwhile with the money you steal from your neighbors.. My power bills aren't such that I want a bunch of ugly crap bolted to my roof.

My roof is white foam and red tiles and I'm happy with that. Purple blue plastic crap would look nasty. Now I realize tar paper and corrugated tin is dressing up the homestead in Alabammy and Mesa but for those of us with indoor plumbing it just doesn't cut it.

In Mesa? You never want to make your house too fancy for the neighborhood. Makes it hard to get your money back if you sell. Pull those down and go with sod.
