This girl went through hell.  No doubt her mental faculties were compromised.   Very sad.

The Netherlands version of pre-planning creeps me out, and I can't say I really support it-the legal structure/encouragement. That said, if someone has a terminal illness and wants to go out easy, I don't have a problem with it.

No. You do your best to ease suffering and allow death to occur naturally when it comes. That was sick. The notion that depression is permanently intractable is not supported by the evidence.

Not in this case.  but, yes for end of life situations where death is imminent and person is suffering.  We have this compassion for our suffering pets, why not for ourselves?

Per the NY Post, "It wasnâ€t clear how the teen died." https://nypost.com/2019/06/04/netherland...able-pain/
Nevertheless, I don't agree with euthanasia but understand the reasoning of those who support the practice.

I think we, at times, draw out life far beyond reason. Keeping people alive , but with no life left.

Iâ€m not in favor of “putting people down”, but I am in full favor of doing what is necessary to relieve pain

Iâ€ll defer to 3G on this , his comment about depression not being a reason. In my laymanâ€s perspective, Iâ€d agree. Past circumstances donâ€t have to dictate ones future.

I'll tell you who should be put down are the men who molested and raped that poor soul.  DISGUSTING.

Suicide can be tricky and has to be done perfectly so that blame is not placed on innocent parties. Legal euthanasia would put doubt and questions to rest. Terminally ill should have a right to end things on their terms. Of course, those choosing euthanasia must be determined to be of sound mind. Ending your life would seem to be an extremely difficult decision but until you've walked in their shoes you really shouldn't be able to deny that choice to people who believe it is what is necessary for them.
