Trade deals are one area where Trump has excelled as POTUS.

I've been keeping track of the situation since it began. I knew the US had the Chinese over a barrel simply because it can't feed it's people. Trump is only holding off on placing tariffs on soybeans and medicine during the country's celebration period. Trump will eventually use the tariff threat on soybeans and medicine. China will comeback to the table to keep it's head above water. Xi does not have to win reelection ever. The Chinese will do whatever it can to influence the US election to oust Trump. If he is reelected China is in deep doo doo.
China is desperately buying off other nations (Philippines) to ignore South China Sea rulings. It's falsely labeling ships, ship cargo containers, and labels on clothing to avoid the tariffs. The Chinese do not play by the rules. Trump has the Chinese on the ropes. If reelected Trump will put the Chinese on the canvas for the KO. Not bad for a pompous orange dude.

Being on the cynical side, what if China decides to call all of it's loans to the US due?

They'll sooner recall all of their pandas in US zoos before they call in their bonds

With China's economy slipping, the need to feed people, so it wouldn't surprise if they at least threatened to call in some of the loans. Then again, I'm sure that Trump has had this type of scenario before when he was just a citizen/businessman.

China can't call in loans on bonds as they are making interest off them.  Would kill the Golden calf.

The lowering of tariffs is self serving. China owns the largest pork producer in the US... Smithfield Foods.
